get us to where we are. you know, we've written about, learned about their sacrifice. now the question is, what are we willing to sacrifice? democracy requires something of us. i gave a speech at gettysburg talking about the moment that we find ourselves in, talking about the bloody battle that was fought and waged on that hollow ground to preserve the union, and now we have to each look in the mirror and ask, what are we willing to risk to preserve the union for our kids and for our grandkids? cliff, rashad, so many others were arrested protest to go ensure the right to vote. so many people have been standing up, putting their bodies on the line to ensure that this experiment in democracy sustains for the future. and let's be very clear. this is an experiment. there is nothing written on a tablet somewhere that says america has to succeed. it succeeds because every time we see a new generation of people step up to call us higher, if we are silent in this moment, if we think that this is some movie when it a

trump sent us. none of the republicans who are boycotting service on this committee could've refuted that statement today. trump sent us. that testimony will never be contradicted by anyone in this investigation or any other investigation of the january 6th defense. many of the criminals now charged with attacking the capitol have already said in their own defense that trump sent them to commit their crimes. and so the committee that's charged with investigating what happened on january 6th and who caused it already has the smoking gun testimony against donald trump. trump sent us. the trump mob who were sent there by the president of the united states told officer michael fanone how they wanted to kill him. >> at some point during the fighting, i was dragged from the line of officers and into the crowd. i heard chanting from some in the crowd, get his gun and kill him with his own gun. >> officer fanone had a few to say about the republicans in the house and the senate who tried to block this inves

they were using them to beat us at the front line. the first thing i told them was, hey, man, we got to get these doors closed. we have injured officers in here, and that really seemed to piss those guys off. they became incredibly violent and that's when the surge that you watched in some of the video began and you had a large group at the mouth of that tunnel entrance trying to push their way through the officers who were fighting to defend it. i believe had they done so or accomplished that, they would have trampled us to death, and most certainly you would have had police officers killed. i fought there at the front for sometime. i was yelling out, you know, trying to inspire some of the other officers that were up there that were tired, telling them to dig in and push. we started to make some progress. we pushed those guys out of the tunnel and out through the initial thresh way -- threshold. i remember thinking to myself, man, it's good to get some fresh air. it was at that point i was pulled off the line. that initial period of
