according to greg bluestein of the atlanta journal constitution, abrams did speak with a senior league official prior to the change of venue. in that conversation, abrams reportedly reiterated her position against boycotts. mlb officials say the league has been having conversations with politicians from both parties and the commissioner's decision was not based on a single conversation with any given political leader. so, mike barnicle, this is in line with what we were talking about yesterday. again, stacey abrams, of course, she objects to the law in georgia, did not want to see an estimated $100 million of revenue leave her state, hurting many of the people she's worked her life trying to help. so how did this go down, exactly? was it the pressure from players who were telling the commissioner's office they wouldn't show up for the game that ultimately forced them to move? >> i think that was part of it, willie, certainly, the pressure from the players association. also part of it was rob manford himself. i think he wanted to bring baseball literally into the 21st century. baseball

greg bluestein, i want to finish up with you. so what's your takeaway, just from what you've head this morning, but all of the back and forth over the past week or two, where is this story going in georgia? >> i think this is the first of a domino effect. mayor keisha lance bottoms of atlanta said the same thing. she said she feels like there will be other businesses or events that might pull out of atlanta or georgia because of this. and governor kemp over the weekend said he is spoiling for a fight. it's worth economic backlash, worth the lawsuits and worth more cancellations. and he is trying to pin the blame on democrats. so you see in my view, at least, democrats won kind of the first battle. they've won the narrative overall over this measure for the first few months. they were on tv. they were on social media really promoting their views of this legislation. and now republicans are trying to push back and trying to pin the blame on this economic fallout on democrats. so they're going to be -- georgia is going to be in the

joining us from atlanta is greg bluestein, he covers politics for the atlanta journal constitution. thank you for being on c-span. guest: thank you for having me. host: let's talk about the new voting law signed by governor kemp. it would remove election board, shorten the time to request absentee ballots, requiring voter ids for all mail-in ballots, ban food and water distribution within 25 feet of voters, although you are allowed to bring your own as you wait in line. one drop per county, 23 in the more populous counties. it reduces the number of days allowed for absentee voting from 180 to 78. it also bans mobile voting centers such as rv's. why was this law put in place? guest: that is the question lawmakers and politicians and voters are grappling with right now in georgia because of the sharp fallout of this package of legislation. republicans say these are needed changes to restore the integrity and confidence in the vote in georgia, and that some of the changes were spurred from the 2018 election in georgia, needed political will to be passed. what democrats eagerly point ou
