live from cnn world headquarters in atlanta, i want to welcome all of our viewers in the united states, canada and around the world, i'm paula newton and this is "cnn newsroom." ♪ so we start with the murder trial of former minneapolis police officer derek chauvin. the main witness on thursday, dr. martin tobin, a renowned expert in pulmonary critical care. he testified george floyd died from a lack of oxygen after being placed on the street on his stomach with handcuffs, a knee on his neck and a knee on his back. dr. tobin saying even a person without medical conditions would have died. cnn's sara sidner reports. >> reporter:. >> that's the moment the life goes out of his body. >> reporter: the prosecutor's expert medical witness did not hold back. >> mr. floyd died from a low level of oxygen and this caused damage to his brain that we see and it also caused a pea arrhythmia that caused his heart to stop. >> reporter: the renowned expert on breathing and lungs dr. tobin pointed to the officer's actions saying george floyd died because the officers created a scenario in which floyd's

confirmed mass murders like in parkland or the young man who killed the people at the asian spa in atlanta or dylann roof who killed the people in the church in south carolina, they somehow managed to take all those young white men alive, but you have black people who don't kill anybody. they're just running, but they use deadly force. we can't continue to have this epidemic of them killing unarmed black people. can we go just one week in america without them killing a black person unjustly? >> you and i have had this conversation over the years way too many times. do you believe, ben, that there is some kind of specific direct coverup going on right now where you are in north carolina, that there's something in the full, unredacted video that they don't want the american people to see? >> andrew brown jr.'s family certainly think it's a coverup. they think that the reason they aren't showing that video to the public is because they're trying to conspire to conceal this unjustifiable killing. the truth is going to come out. they've got to release the video. they might as well go ahead and

then he's coming to atlanta for this strive it rally, it's been rescheduled. he's touting the infrastructure plan and also the american families plan that he unveiled last night. and, of course, those are these big transformational packages that also have another "t," trillion attached to their. that is something he's trying to sell here after doing so last night in washington, unveiling that package. as you were saying, not just trying to sell it to republicans in the room but even those moderate democrats, people like senator joe manchin who says these proposals the president is putting out, they are going to have a lot of scrutiny throughout congress before you see them getting anywhere, gaining any traction and that's what president biden said last night. he said he wanted to introduce them before they got deep into the details so they can have those negotiations with lawmakers. but the other part that you're going to see them embarking on this week and next is selling it to the american people. because that was something they relied on when they talked ab

major road going through atlanta, obviously. about 40 miles away from the city of atlanta itself. carol co carroll county, can you see the car in the background there. it's an active investigation going on still. what we're told that car was on the highway when a georgia state patrol trooper tried to get behind it and stop it at that high rate of speed. at some point, the trooper tried to use a pit maneuver. they take the front end of the car and try to hit the back end to put it out of control. at that point, according to georgia state patrol, someone in the car started shooting. the move over a little bit so you can see the investigation. you can see the officers down the way here still collecting evidence. from what we're told, when the shots were fired, one officer was hit during that. one suspect has been killed. another has been captured after negotiation. so they're still trying to sort this out. we're told two other officers were shot. there is a back and forth whether or not the car crashed, one of the officer's cars crashed while this speed chase was going on. so all thi
