it's going to be denver, not atlanta? >> that's what the reports are right now coming out of local media at this point, jim. look, politicians out of colorado seem to be all but confirming that. cnn has not independently confirmed the move but we're told that the expectation is that an announcement will come today. according to media in colorado, that announcement will be that they are moving the major league baseball all-star game this summer from atlanta to denver. and the reasons are obviously beyond the high altitude at-bats we'll be seeing there. colorado governor jared polis issued a statement saying, like so many coloradans, i'm excited and hopeful that major league baseball makes the best decision and formally chooses to play the 2021 all-star game in denver. it would be good for baseball and good for colorado. when this announcement started leaking last night, we did see some -- to be fair -- intellectually dishonest comparisons of georgia voting legislation that just passed and the current laws in colorado. now,

major road going through atlanta, obviously. about 40 miles away from the city of atlanta itself. carol co carroll county, can you see the car in the background there. it's an active investigation going on still. what we're told that car was on the highway when a georgia state patrol trooper tried to get behind it and stop it at that high rate of speed. at some point, the trooper tried to use a pit maneuver. they take the front end of the car and try to hit the back end to put it out of control. at that point, according to georgia state patrol, someone in the car started shooting. the move over a little bit so you can see the investigation. you can see the officers down the way here still collecting evidence. from what we're told, when the shots were fired, one officer was hit during that. one suspect has been killed. another has been captured after negotiation. so they're still trying to sort this out. we're told two other officers were shot. there is a back and forth whether or not the car crashed, one of the officer's cars crashed while this speed chase was going on. so all thi

other day it seems by cnn's count more than 20 just in the weeks since that shooting at the spas in atlanta. we have another bunch of packages on the hill, right, doing things like background checks and so on. but each point like this we think this might be the point where it will happen. do you sense any change in the politics on capitol hill that allows something like for instance, universal background checks which does have some republican support? >> boy, jim, i would love to say that, you know, this is the moment when we'll actually move forward on these issues. and universal background checks have -- polls have suggested that 90% of gun owners favor universal background checks. but i really have a hard time seeing essential legislation getting through the senate. so i don't think that there is going to be gun legislation passed by congress. i think that's why the biden administration is moving forward with these executive actions. and so, you know, i find it incredibly dispiriting that we lose more than 100 people a day to gun violence and yet we don't seem prepared in contrast to jus
