martin said he'd quickly recognised that the 20 dollar bill mr floyd had handed him to buy cigarettes was fake. at the urging of his manager, mr martin twice went outside to mr floyd's car to ask him to come back and talk with his manager. mr floyd had refused. but what happened next said mr martin could easily have been avoided. i saw people yelling and screaming, i saw derek with his knee on george's neck. we saw you standing there with your hands on your head for a while, correct? correct. what was going through your mind during that time period? disbelief. and guilt. why guilt? if i would've just not taken the bill, this could've been avoided. the court has been hearing evidence from charles mcmillan, one of those who witnessed the whole interaction between mr floyd and the police. "i was trying to tell him just to comply," said mr mcmillan. you heard christopher martin talking about his guilt. you heard darnella frazier, the 17-year-old girl, who filmed the video, without which we probably would not even be at the point of being at this trial, saying she apologizes nightly to george floyd and wishes that she could have done more than what she did. you also saw, you know, that final witness, who was saying, you know, he felt compelled to make the video, but also was filming in spite of the fact that he was scared or worried that he might be attracting police attention for himself and he really wasn't trying to do that. and christopher martin saying that he deleted that video because he didn't want to attract undue attention. he didn't want to get his mother involved so, you know, these folks, despite being reluctant, still felt camompelled to come forwar because they felt like they were seeing something happening that was wrong. >> you know, errin, i would like you to address something wider here i think this testimony is also serving as a reminder of just how traumatic thes

we went straight to the testimony of christopher martin. the defense, not re-cross examining her. i want to go to our legal panel. paul butler is here, an msnbc legal analyst. he is the author of "chokehold pl policing black men." paul, let me start with the obvious question why do you think that the firefighter, the emt who was so powerful yesterday was not brought back today >> you know, at the end of the cross examination, the defense was kind of floundering. they established that she's not an expert on police use of force practices. she was combative. she was giving them a hard time. we can be sure that the prosecutors had a discussion with her last night telling her to chill out again, with witnesses for the prosecution of a murder trial, their sense is that the defense attorney is trying to help a murderer go free so often, they are combative but that doesn't look good in front of the jury, especially if the witness is reprimanded i think probably the prosecution and the defense were happy not to have her back although, at the end of the day, she was a very effective witness
