we had nothing so far from amazon or facebook according to the associated press. apple did get back and referred them to recent comments from ceo tim cook who told last month that he doesn't think anybody reasonable would call apple a monopoly, but we will have to wait and see. the attorney general bill barr feels the same way. bret, this really signals the attorney general's attempt to investigate these big tech companies. full steam ahead. >> bret: we should point out this is dual track because doj has this on the anticompetitive side in this investigation, we don't really know the scope of it come as you point out, but on capitol hill, it's an entirely different investigation with multiple committees on privacy, on this front, on antitrust, and we don't know the scope of that yet. >> don't have the scope and it just goes to show you how much washington is going to be a threat to these big tech companies down the road. this really is, by all accounts, just the beginning. >> bret: it will come up in 2020 i'm sure as well. thank you. >> thanks, bret. >> bret: whil

could be a big investigation and it could really pose a big threat to companies like facebook, google, amazon, and apple. none of them were specifically mentioned in a press release from the department of justice,

and we saw that with amazon, when amazon raised its minimum wage. what did it do? it starts to cut bonuses and stock-based pay and it moved more to robots. a lot of people on the left like to cite nordic countries but nordic countries do not have a minimum wage. we are talking sweden, finland and denmark. it's a one-size-fits-all approach that's not working, different cost of living in different parts of the country. so the federal top-down approach might be the wrong way to go for the u.s. economy. >> neil: as capri pointed out, the house passed on the $15 in federal minimum wage but they were willing to accept the standard rate for everybody without distinctions and being in cheaper parts of the country, or kids versus adults. leaving that aside, i'm wondering if republicans then look like they are fighting this. also i would say the congresswoman is among a couple even mentioning this figure. is it a big issue for them at all? >> i think republicans can rightfully say they are protecting from economic growth that's taking place under this administration and that

even support paying for it so how will it be especially a small business and even big businesses like amazon are going to cut corners. the money has to come from somewhere. rob: what this will get it is there is a struggle in this country with the cost of living rising faster than wages and that is the grander scheme to take care of with talk like this. what is the right answer to q to that problem? >> people have to educate themselves get better paying jobs. find jobs where you can get bonuses, say you have a salary position in a 40 grand a year, find a job that will pay you a bonus if you work overtime or bring certain sales -- you could make bonuses if your salary is 40 grandeur you could make 20,000 a year in bonuses and you are at 60,000, that is a lot better, 32,000, 40,000. i think people ideally, these minimum wage jobs set out to help people start out, the best thing people can do is work hard, find better jobs, don't give up. if you are having a hard time finding a good job, keep going. jillian: your reaction, we expect to hear from robert mueller this week. it will be a big newswe

of course, amazon and costco can pay their workers $15 an hour. mom-and-pop businesses cannot afford it. if the government forces them to do that, they will force them out of business. bernie sanders will not have the kind of help he needs to run the campaign that is going to get him the nomination which is a lot of people all over the country, particularly in the critical states knocking on doors. those are the people that will have their hours cut and they will go from 60 hours a week to 42 hours a week. that will not be enough. that is the reality and that is why they don't have minimum wage laws in place like denmark. >> juan: in fact, you guys have said people get hurt by this. but more people are help in terms of higher wages that allow them to support their families. >> actually the cbo just did an analysis nonpartisan analysis, that showed 3.7 million people will lose their jobs. with a $15 an hour -- they won't benefit from the higher wages. because they will always stay up $15 an hour. >> juan: $15 right now -- >> one come i don't think

been a champion for that $15 an hour minimum wage, he has rallied against a lot of organizations like amazon and walmart, saying they don't pay their workers -- they pay them starvation wages. meanwhile, his employees are upset because in some cases they make below that $15 an hour for the majority, most of those junior staffers they earn about $36,000 a year which works out to $15 an hour. if they worker more than 40 hours during that week, that can dip below the $15 an hour. that's why their hours will be cut to about 42 to 43 hours a week so they can maintain that $15 an hour. jillian: i guess it's not a surprise that the lion king takes number one, right? >> it was a a huge weekend for the lion king. disney putting out those initial estimates for north america, brought in about $185 million this weekend. its opening weekend. also made about half a billion dollars worldwide. this was a record-setting movie for disney, opening up at its ninth biggest opening of all time. that's not the only record broken this weekend. after nearly a decade o decade e highest grossing movie of all time, ava

all of this while sanders rallied against a lot of big corporations like amazon and walmart, calling them out, saying they pay their workers starvation wages a and he essentially, these employees of his are saying he's doing the same thing. so sanders says we're going to be cutting their hours to make sure they work about 42, 43 hours a week so they can essentially make $15 an hour. he did say i, quote, i am proudo be the first presidential candidate to recognize a union and negotiate a union contract. it not only provides pay of at least $15 an hour, it also provides i think the best health care benefits any employer can provide for our field organizers. heather: apparently he wasn't paying 100% health care for those employees making less than $60,000 and so that was another thing they were asking for. will be interesting to see what he does on that front. let's talk about this. the world's busiest airport is about to ban smoking? >> yes, we're talking about hartsfield-jackson atlanta international airport. they're going to get rid of its dozen or so smoke lounges by january 2020. t
