"Conteporary art-rock with heavyness. Always recorded in haunted locations...we think. Listenable to those who are themselves listenable. Always experimental as is the way of the human."
The band, which hails from NJ, is Dave Debiak, (Composer/singer/songwriter) This Sleep Station line-up, brings the chemistry of the band to new levels of musical exploration and boundless creativity.
The bands first record, Anhedonia, is an unprecedented amalgam of driving rock, sensitive story telling and enchanting yet quirky segues that draw the listener closer and provides a roots rock experience chock full of lush guitar passages, driving rhythms, and stories that tell tales of love, pain, expectation, and friendship.
The band's sophomore effort has been characterized by some as a "concept" album. Originally conceived by Debiak as a soundtrack to a motion picture, on "Goodbye Elba 1", Dave sought to create the musical environment in which the story of unrequited love between a man and a robot could be told. The result is a stunning collection of songs that the band believes will provide the audience with alternatives to typical musical expectation.
The band plans to make its presence known in the 2001. The short-term goal is to polish and present the live show on the "college circuit" and in select venues throughout the greater New York Metropolitan area. The band will then begin to book "mini-tours" into Boston, Philadelphia, Washington and other east coast cities.
If the reaction of audiences in New York City can be used as an indicator of what is to come, then those who have the opportunity to see and hear Sleep Station will be very glad they did. They will buy the record, and they will come back to see the band again because, in a time when music is searching for a new identity, it might just be found in Sleep Station.
