shark. it's going to be great! there's singing and playing and word-building and... and a lot of stuff i don't know. it's okay if you don't know something, shark. we go to school to learn. well, what if i make a mistake? it's good to make mistakes. that's how we learn. you must be shark. how do you know that? from your letters. s-h-a-r-k. "shh," "ark" shark. welcome to school, shark. you don't want to miss the parade, do you? "parade"? what parade? the first day of school parade. at the end of the day, all the new students parade around word world and everyone cheers for you. (purrs, meows) i do love parades... oh! oh! come on! come on, shark! we can't miss the parade!

let's get to school! shark: okay. narrator: with the help of his good wordfriend, duck shark found the courage to take that big first step on a very big first day of school. (gasps, quacks) school has so much fun stuff! oh! eh! oh! what should we play with first? (gasps) (excited grunting) (chuckles) (quacks) hey, shark, look at me! i'm a cowboy! shark? shark? where are you? oh! oh! shark! come here! we're playing dress-up. really? dress-up? that sounds fun.

(shark screams) oh, no! hmm... oopsie. looks like we have a spill. i'm sorry. it was a mistake. it's okay, shark. we all make mistakes. and this gives us a chance to learn. who wants to help me build a word? not me. oh! me! me! me! me-me! me-me! me! me! me! (quacks) shark, you and i can use this rag to wipe up the spill. okay. narrator: shark was beginning to have a little bit of fun at school. (mumbling, exclaiming) look, shark! i drew a picture of my nest. nice! i drew pictures of some fish i know. (chuckles) wow! (quacks) that's a lot of pictures. well, i know a lot of fish. wha...? oh!

(both laughing) and we're in a school. a "school" of fish, get it? a whole bunch of fish. you know, shark, if you put your pictures in your cubbyhole, you can take them home later. i can? oh! then i can give one to crab! i'm sure he'd like that. whoa! whoa! oh, no! (meows) oopsie! i'm sorry. it was a mistake. it's okay, shark. it's not easy to carry all those pictures. i think you could use some help. (meows) who wants to build a word with me this time? (barks excitedly) and here, shark. this bag is for you to carry all your pictures home. and i'll help you put them in the bag. (meows) cool! thanks! narrator: later that day in the school yard... whee! cool! okay, wordfriends, our first day of school is almost over. (all groaning)

but i was having so much fun. don't forget we still have the parade. oh, boy! i love parades! is everybody ready? (blows whistle) (excited chatter) so there's a very important word we have to build for our parade. who would like to build the next word? not me. would you like to try to build a word, shark? did you say "shark"? yes. you want me to build a word? absolutely! go on, shark! you can do it! (barks encouragingly) that's right. you can do this, shark. uh... okay. i'll try.

(whistle blows) yay, shark! (meows) shark! go, shark! ♪ ♪ yeah! hooray!

narrator: as shark waved the flag in the parade, he realized that his first day of school had been one of his best days ever. the end. (laughs) (gasps) "hoo" and "ray," shark! your first baby tooth fell out

right here at our pajama party. lucky you! huh? why am i lucky? because the tooth fairy will come while you're sleeping, and give you a present. like a purple lollipop? yeah! while you're sleeping, she'll take your tooth and leave behind a present instead! but you have to be asleep for her to come. why? because the tooth fairy only comes when you're asleep. why? she's shy. ah! then let's go to sleep right now! (grunts) (sighs) night, shark. night, duck. night, tooth. (snoring) narrator: so duck and shark went to sleep.

(gasps): in the water-- of course! so you need to sleep in something

(chuckles): it'll be just like sleeping at home. okay. here goes. (grunts) how's that, shark? feeling sleepy? (groans): uh, no.

(piano keys playing) kids: piano!

okay, shark, here we go! i'm gonna play this piano and sing you a nice lullaby that's sure to put you right to sleep. (inhales) (playing loud rock intro) (loudly): ♪ whoo! go to sleep, shark! ♪ ♪ go to sleep, shark, go to sleep! ♪ ♪ go to sleep, shark, go to sleep, shark, whoo! ♪ narrator: duck's song didn't help shark sleep. in fact, it was so loud that it woke up... frog. (loud music continues) ♪ what do you need? ♪ ♪ sleep! ♪ ♪ when do you need it? ♪ ♪ now! ♪ ♪ what do you need? ♪ ♪ sleep! ♪ ♪ when do you need it? ♪ ♪ now! ♪ ♪ whoo! ♪ is it working, shark? are-are you asleep yet? uh... no. duck! what are you doing? it's the middle of the night! (music stops) oh. hi, frog. i'm helping shark fall asleep.

yeah! i need to fall asleep so the tooth fairy can come. the tooth fairy? oh, did you lose a tooth, shark? yes! my first one! hee...? congratulations, shark. you know, i happen to be something of a tooth fairy expert. ooh! ooh! when you lose a tooth, you need to put it under a pillow. a pillow? yes. the tooth fairy takes the tooth out from under the pillow and leaves you a present. yay! ooh! (gasps): and... a pillow is great for helping you fall asleep! you're right! i always sleep with a pillow at home! so we need to build you a pillow! and puh, puh, pillow starts with the letter "p"!

(sighs) good night, shark. narrator: with a comfy pillow to rest his head on, shark finally fell asleep. (sighing) ♪ ♪ and the next morning... (birds chirping) (mumbling) (snoring quietly)

(gasps) it worked! it worked! look what the tooth fairy left under my pillow! wow! a purple lollipop! my favorite! ♪ ♪ purple lollipops! purple lollipops! yay! the tooth fairy came! the tooth fairy came! narrator: with the help of a puh, puh, pillow, shark got a good night's sleep and the perfect present. the end.
