the community of boxholm waking up to signs of tragedy today... 383421 - its the most devastating thing to ever think about is you know you go to work and you come home and youve lost everything and i mean everything flames broke out in the back of this family home on beech street around one a-m yesterday. inside the home... was a mother and her three children.... nearly a dozen fire departments fought to rescue them from the flames... but below zero temperatures quickly turned water to ice... 27 year old amber sorenson, her two daughters 9 year old riley and 6 year old autumn... along with her four year old son...brayden... all died. firefighters say the four had

america. martin luther king junior day means exploring science for kids in th metro today... the science center of iowa is offering free admission fro the holiday... visitors can get in all the exhibits and programs. that includes a new traveling exhibit focused on race... called "race are we so different" it's intended to spark conversation about cultural, racial and ethnic differences. the center is open from 10 to five today. cold temps aren't stopping some people from getting out and enjoying the holiday... we're taking a live look now at the ice at brenton skating plaza... yesterday cold temps proved too cold for skaters... officials had to shut down the rink for the day because of the subzero temperatures. it did reopen this morning... for the martin luther king junior holiday. and there's an incentive to bundle up this morning... your

inspection service confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic h7n8 avian influenza in a commercial turkey flock in dubois county, indiana.this is a different strain than the devastating outbreak last spring, which wiped out 31 million birds in iowa. aphis is working with the indiana state board of animal health on a joint incident response and the site has been quarantined with bird depopulation already started. birds from this flock will not enter the food system. the outbreak location is just under 400 miles from an iowa border. there are no known cases of h7n8 infections in humans, but as a precaution, the usda recommends cooking poultry and eggs to an internal temperature of 165 degrees fahrenheit. that will kill

democratic hopefuls are fresh off the political spotlight this morning... last night... hillary clinton... bernie sanders and martin omalley took the stage in charleston, south carolina last night. it was their final democratic debate before the voting starts here in iowa... questions focused on two big issues - health care and gun control. we are now just two weeks away from the iowa caucuses. the state of florida has been left in the path of destruction this morning. governor rick scott toured tornado damage after storms ripped through the southwest part of the state early sunday morning. two people were killed and dozens of homes were destroyed. the tornado is being classified as an e-f-2. the national weather service says winds reached up to 127 miles-per- hour and caused destruction along a nine-mile stretch. homeowners are looking at more than 3 million dollars in damage. hundreds of thousands of bottles of clean water is being trucked to flint, michigan...
