Out scripture text occurred during a time of great unrest and turmoil. God was speaking to his people through His prophet Isaiah. In the process of telling the people what was coming to pass, He also described a philosophy and attitude about life that would lead to a happy joyful life.
Agriculture in biblical times was much different than today. All cultivation and plowing was done by hand or with animals. Seeds were cast into flooded bottom land. Working the land in these flooded boggy conditions was at times not a pleasant endeavor. God was declaring to His people in our text that it was time to sew beside all waters. No matter the circumstance, or the conditions, God said to sew the seed anyway.
Godâs command was to ignore the circumstances. It may not look like time for revival, it may not look like the right place, it many not look like time for whatever the need may be, but if we sew the seeds, He will take care of the need. Godâs command was to not look for better circumstances, but that now is the time, this is the place and we are the people to do His work.
Cast the seeds. The power is not in us, it is in the seed. The seed will produce result if it finds the conditions favorable. Our job is to cast the seed, not to decide where to cast it. God will produce the harvest.
