This is the full 1-28-2018 episode of the Labor Express Radio program.
Saturday the 20th, marked the 1st year anniversary for the Trump administration. It also marked the anniversary of the 2017 Women’s march, one of the largest social movement protest events ever organized in our nation’s history. Once again this year on Jan. 20th, women and their allies marched and rallied across the country and made clear that their movement was not just a one time event. Indeed the renaissance of feminism in the past year is reshaping the political, social and cultural landscape. Here in Chicago, the number of participants grew, surpassing the 300,000 mark. Making it second only to the 2006 Mayday march in size for the city. On tonight’s program we will hear from some of those who organized and participated in the Chicago women’s march. We will also hear from participants in the Shut Down Racism, War & Bigotry on 1st Anniv of Trump march which was held one day after on Jan. 21st. And we will hear from women of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) on the specific challenges faced by women workers in agriculture and how the are fight back.
