8:35 pm
>> is this setting just kind of the groundwork of what could come for some other folks who may have also ignored those subpoenas from congress as part of this investigation. >> i think that's exactly right. i think they're making a congress and the american orleans department of justice are making an example of safe. and i think they are, if you will, showing the instruments of torture to the other people who have been subpoenaed before that committee of the house to investigate the insurrection i think also picked as the first person go forward with the prosecution because he has a rather clear-cut case. he was not even working in the white house at the time and he just and i just don't see any credible way. he can claim to be covered under executive privilege. so if they can, you know, if they can. crack is case open. maybe they can rattle some of the other people into actually coming forth before that committee. >> what do they want him to say or do. what are the what information are they looking for.
8:36 pm
>> they're looking both testimony and of material evidence. copies of e-mails calendars any any any kind of paperwork that would help to shed light on the role the trump white house played in spring at the end. so insurrection on january 6. he has a lot of material evidence apparently he was very in the many of the conversations that are happening between the white house and insurrectionists and he has a lot of knowledge of what went down. so if he tries to keep that secret. then we may never know. and it becomes awfully hard to prevent something like that from happening again. but if he does come forward or they're able to extract that information from him. that's really important testimony to create a complete the story about what happened during those and that's we're moving one step forward with regards the court saying that president trump's records from the white house can be released.
8:37 pm
>> an appeals court is saying not so fast. we need to hold a hearing to kind of review some of the stuff. >> how does this play out with regards to the investigation or what does that hold up to do with regards to the investigation of not being able to release those records. >> well, these are these are all events that are proceeding in, if you will side by side lee is right there so that all alternately going in the same direction. but they're different and they're different lanes of legal proceedings. i i think it's very likely that that that the demand for trump materials will probably find itself in the supreme court at some at some point or another. >> so this is obviously sending a clear message to anyone who thinks that they can to avoid the committee. so who else do you think is next. >> i some ideas of i think mark meadows will be a pretty tough nut to crack. he was the chief of staff at the time. and so arguably maybe deserves
8:38 pm
some of were consideration under executive privilege that area of1authority is designed to protect confidential and candid communications between the president and his top advisers on matters of state. so, you know, meadows i think will be lower on the list. but you know, there are, for example, jeffrey clark who worked at the department of justice at the time. his name keeps coming up, pretty high on lists. and i think that's an interesting next. i think you might even be somebody they might be pressuring to flat. actually. yeah, we will all be paying very close attention to the developments from washington, dc as they unfold tomorrow. >> donna crane would san jose state university. we always appreciate your time here on kron. 4 news. >> thank you so much. thank you. down. >> so what our 4 zone forecast and a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. folks headed into the city headed home getting ready for a new work week. they wish the traffic could be like that. >> during the rush hour commute tomorrow morning. i'm sure a busier and busier out i'm usually my head on the
