along the richmond, sandra fell commute. as you head out of richmond. pretty slow along highway 4 from one 60 to 40 to about 43 minutes started. james, back to you. >> thank you randi. speaking of traffic, some breaking news to share with you this morning out of san jose. one person is dead after a single car crash near the hillsdale avenue area right near jarvis avenue happened about 6.18 this morning. so a little less than an hour ago, police say this is the 53rd person to die in a crash in san jose this year drivers being asked to avoid the area. police are still out there investigating what happened. >> 7? '03, and another story that we're following as the search for a shooter. >> who fired a shot into a car on 80 and oakland and ended up killing a toddler tragic story. that boy was just 23 months old. >> this was on saturday. we've got kron 4 sarah stinson up in the newsroom. now following the very latest on this investigation. sarah. >> yeah, this is a devastating story. i mean, the boy was one month shy of just turning 2 years old. so young. he was

shot and killed while his mom was driving them home from san francisco to fremont on a 80. they were in oakland at the time and now to police departments are working together to find the shooter. a family friend tells us at around 2 saturday afternoon. there's about a couple adults in the car. 3 kids. they were driving southbound on 8.80 when the car was struck by gunfire. the toddler was the only one hit by a bullet. a family friend tells us the 23 month-old child's name is jasper wu chp says the boy was taken to the oakland children's hospital where he later died from his injuries. family. friends also tell us just for his mom was driving. as i said, she's a single mom and the boy was her only child chp. investigators say after looking at evidence at the scene. the victims may not have been targeted but rather the toddler was struck by a stray bullet. the story has really rocked the entire bay area and rock to the fremont

and oakland police department's their outrage saying that they need to figure out who is responsible for this. the police are also working with the community to support the family during this extremely horrific time. i reached out to fremont police oakland. police chp as well as the chinatown chamber of commerce to get an update for you. i know a lot of people invest in figuring out. police can find who did this horrible horrific act for now reporting liveyin the newsroom. back to you. all right. thank you very much, sir. >> 7. '05. there's been so much shoplifting at walgreens that they're closing more san francisco stores today ocean avenue in would acre. drive is going to close at walgreens location and 4 others in san francisco in the coming days are going to close because of all the shoplifting. and here's the list of the closures that are happening just in the next week. you can see the closure dates here in this is in addition to about a dozen walgreens that had already closed prior to this

because of the same problem. just so much shoplifting. they are mentioning that if you have. prescriptions at the location. that's closing that those will be transferred to the location on ocean avenue and faxon avenue. and this is just a sign of the times here is viral video. this is something that happened in june where you could see this man just walking out with a bunch of stuff from a walgreens location. this store is already closed. this one. this occasion and they think that this man is linked to a shoplifting cases. >> it is 7. the country provided that they had negative covid-19 test. so now it's more open. but with more restrictions including that fully vaccinated. you know, the documents you have to show the airline before you hop onto the plane in your customs before you leave your particular country to come to the u.s. that you're fully vaccinated and that you're negative for covid-19 a lot of people guys. they're praising president biden on 2 fronts. one is that the state, the safeguards are in place to make sure americans are still safe and 2, that it opens up the economy to the rest of the world myspace. and with the holidays coming up, a lot of family and friends want to travel to see their family and friends in america. all right. thanks a lot. we'll going to get busy. there it is. yeah, 7. '08, is the time. we also have some other news happening today. >> we have service changes coming to the san francisco bay ferry routes. most of them are minor. all primarily only

impacting midday service. but there are other changes to that include things like resuming service on the south san francisco route which connects oakland alameda and south san francisco today will also mark the launch of the new alameda short hop service. it's a 10 minute connection between the main street alameda ferry terminal and the oakland ferry terminal out at jack london square and there will also be changes to the services. well, including moving some of the afternoon times and canceling the last trip of the day on weekdays. we've got more information for you on kron. 4 dot com. >> 7. '09, viewer this in case you have to go to the hospital today. these bay 350 health care workers at sutter delta medical center in antioch are striking. the union says that sutter canceled a planned mediation session and so they're taking to the picket lines. the workers say they are protesting what they call difficult working conditions. an unfair labor practices in this is video of the same location. same hospital last

month. there was a demonstration. the union says staffing shortages are a big problem workers are walking out from various positions emergency room technicians respiratory therapists and others. a spokesperson for sutter health says a proposed contract with the union guarantees pay and benefits that are good or even better, then others in the area. it is not clear exactly will happen. if you're a patient going to the hospital today and how that might affect you. but just be cautious of it happening right now. crews at we're going to fix a water main that broke. it was around 11 o'clock yesterday on ralston avenue between south road and twin pines lane that the break happened. ralston avenue is down to now one lane in the east contradiction. look at all that water. this was the scene last night after this break happened around 11 o'clock. belmont police say the crews are going to be there throughout the morning trying to clean it up. so do know that there's an alternate route. you have a detour around this area.

of tonight's rainfall. see, it's got a time out your activities. well, today, generally the earlier the better on this monday morning as you can see, not so bad for the time being. now. all that moisture associated with the atmospheric river still sitting out in the pacific, but it's going to work its way. our direction and that means generally increasing clouds towards the afternoon. and by the time we reached the latter part over evening commute will see some light showers kicking into gear heavier rainfall mostly after 08:00pm towards about 08:00pm to midnight tonight. is where most widespread and heaviest of rainfall will be off and on showers carry us through tomorrow morning for the commute. so do expect a wet one on your tuesday morning. drive into work might be the good data plan to work from home. date that still an option for you tomorrow afternoon skies clear out. pretty nicely. really the rest of the forecast after that point, despite offering up a few clouds here and there is going to be nice and dry now. how much rain are we looking at today. it's definitely not the day lose by any means. santa rosa around 2 inches of rain nevado center fell san francisco and napa around an

inch of rain, upper elevations in the north bay could see 2 to 4 inches at our maxwell. the santa cruz mountains could be looking at upwards of an inch as well. lighter amounts in areas like san jose right around half of an inch possible from this evening. shower. now, as far as temperatures go today. really not all that unfamiliar. we're right back to the 60's. that's where we spent the weekend. that's where we're going to be in the midst of this cloudy afternoon before rainfall tonight now won't just be raining tonight off but also pretty windy. that's why after 07:00pm. we do have wind advisories going into effect. so it's not the best night to be out and about tuesday showers start to depart. and after that, a dry forecast with 70's back by the weekend right now. john, thank you for that. okay. we have a couple issues and delays a hot spot here in san jose northbound 85 south of south ian's bulevar. >> you've got at least 2 lanes that are currently their plot. we also unfortunately had a traffic fatality seoul, a vehicle crashed. this are on roadways here. so hillsdale avenue and jarvis af. they still have the area blocked

off because they're still conducting that investigation heading into the city right now. it's a little under 22 minutes for your drive time yet a traffic hazard, 80 westbound near that treasure island exit so that slowed us down a little bit this morning. san mateo, you have an accident southbound one. oh, one north of east poplar avenue. so we are seeing delays along on the southbound side and a little on the northbound side is people are traveling and looking at that accident heading across towards the peninsula. little under 14 minutes for you to make that drive because of that accident here in berkeley, 80 westbound east of gilman street you've got an accident there. so it's pretty slow. a long 5.80, in a san pablo avenue. always a good alternate if you're trying to get around those delays and we're checking on the richmond. sandra fell bridge a little under 13 minutes as you had a rich and since busy this morning. we'll have more on that coming darya james, back to you. thanks a lot for your money this morning. american airlines increases flight attendant holiday pay. >> after that operational meltdown, they had and the rules on face masks at the

office are changing. jane king is live at the nasdaq with those stories and more happy monday to you. j story. a happy monday to you and it does look like some companies are starting to relax the mask mandates that working mothers are looking at it. >> the wall street journal says that there's some relaxation going on in some places. the health authorities have authorized course, the vaccines boosters for the 65. and over that last week, the cdc and fda approving the 5 to 11 year-old covid vaccines as well. so all of that to make people feel a little bit more comfortable about this mask mandates being relaxed a bit. well, a starbucks union vote is scheduled this week on wednesday, the national labor relations board well mail ballots to employees at 3 starbucks in and around buffalo, new york. they'll have 4 weeks to vote and if they do approve this will be the first company owns starbucks that would be unionized. well, ford is attracting younger and more female buyers with the new $20,000 maverick pickup truck. ford says about a quarter of

president says some infrastructure projects could start in as little as 2 or 3 months. and time really is of the essence here as both democrats and republicans look ahead to the 2022 midterm elections. >> a once in a generation investment. that's the pitch president biden will make to the american people this week selling his bipartisan infrastructure deal he says will mean milllons of jobs and more than a trillion dollars worth of projects to address crumbling roads, broadband access and climate change. i do think the voters sent a message on tuesday. they wanted to see more action in washington on nbc's meet the press white house chief of staff ron klain said last week's elections where democrats nationwide suffered surprise losses up and down the ballot, pressured the party to deliver a win for its voters. they wanted to see things move more quickly enough and 3 days later, congress responded passing the president's infrastructure bill, but but a lot of work went into getting us there over the past few months. i don't think the election alone put it over the line. but republicans are already building momentum off the results. it tells you we're

westbound on the bay ridge right near the treasure island exit looks like they've been able to remove that from the bridge heading across towards the peninsula. you have an uptick in traffic and drive times because that accident i just showed you some 18 minutes and here in berkeley, 80 westbound east of gilman street. they just open up all the lanes this accident. san mateo or if you're trying to travel san pablo avenue would be a good alternate around that because we are seeing delays often berkeley and richmond darya james, back to you. thanks a lot. 7.33 and this is such a sad story in the north bay. a family is mourning the death their son was killed while he was out trying to buy a car in fairfield. and here's the victim. 19 year-old michael. >> the pre-dawn. the accused killer is expected to be arraigned on homicide charges tomorrow with crawford's get along with the story. >> friends and family gathered for a vigil sunday night to honor the life of 19 year-old michael up you should to bury for have to be met. your brother, your best friend was

fatal shooting and say the investigation is ongoing here in benicia gayle ong kron 4 news. >> it's 7.34 and police in oakley have arrested a 22 year-old for a shooting that happened at a birthday party that killed 2 men. the shooting happened at a party at a home saturday night. the homes on mallicoat avenue and police went there because they got a report that shots have been fired when they showed up 2 people were dead in the driveway and 2 other people were injured and they are arrested that 22 year-old from brentwood. but other than that, they have not said a motive nor the name. >> it sort disturbance family to believe when we got here, we found 4 people have been struck by gunfire. we were assisted by the berlin police department in contra, costa sheriffs a sheriff's office. >> they do say as everybody was at the same party that everybody did know each other. so they were all i'm known to each other. it was not a targeted shooting or anything

like that. >> in the north bay fairfield police say someone found a skimming device at this bank of america atm the person that spotted it noticed a suspicious mirror with some wires attached to the machine. when investigators took a closer look. they disguise that they discovered that that mir was actually disguising. and amir that was covering up a pinhole camera that was looking down at the keypad so it could record bank transactions credit card numbers. pin codes as they were being punched in so far no word if there are any victims out there. but clearly that's going to be part of the investigation now going forward. >> 36 and a lot of parents are getting their kids vaccinated for covid now that the fda and cdc say 5 to 11 year-olds can get their shot. the city of berkeley is partnering with the school district to get the kids their shots there over the weekend. they had 200 shots given out at just this one clinic, this one location and they have more clinics that are going to open and berkeley throughout this month. same thing in greene county. they have several clinics. the thing is there

right now. the appointments are all booked for this month, but they say they are making them more available. so keep checking with them and you can always go to a pharmacy walgreens and cvs stores all throughout california are giving covid shots to kids and there are many appointments available. if you go to kron 4 dot com. we've got all the information and all the different locations that you can choose. >> well, a federal appeals court has temporarily halted the biden administration's vaccine requirements for businesses with 100 or more employees. so this requirement was for those workers now to be vaccinated by january 4th or they have to wear masks to work and a subject themselves to weekly covid tests. critics of the requirement. they're calling it a governmental overreach. the president has been encouraging widespread vaccinations as the quickest way of getting out of this pandemic and the administration says it's confident that the requirement will survive the legal challenges that are coming. in the south bay. people could have a new option now for buying in bulk in san jose
