>> from the bay area's local news station. we now with breaking news. >> and good evening, everybody. welcome to kron. 4 news at 8. i'm pam moore and i'm ken when we start with breaking news out of milpitas for the great mall has been evacuated and locked down. we have a map of the area. this ael started about 5.30, this evening with reports of a knife fight. then there were reports of a shooting, but police apparently have not found any evidence yet of either force. gayle ong is live on the scene. she's been gathering more information tonight. they'll bring us up to date.

>> pam and ken is so about an hour ago is when people were starting to be let out of the mall and we want to show you that video right now. this is over by burlington coat factory where that incident reported first was reported to police around 5.30. that's where they'll be a speedy. got a call about someone brandishing a knife inside of burlington coat factory and that later on there was a reported shooting. but as you mentioned, there is no evidence that either happened or any victims in this case. but the mall was locked down for about an hour and we want to show you more video from earlier in the day where across for a viewer sent us video of police and riot gear storming of the mall. i did speak to an employee who said that mall security notified him and others that the mall is on lockdown and here is what he had to say about the situation. >> always really saw was just people running some sort people started closing up their doors. so i just went

straight to the app page. >> well, we want to check on the 4 zone. weather forecast a live look outside right now at sfo with things look pretty clear. meteorologist mabrisa rodriguez joins us with a look ahead because we've got the weekend on our side here. yeah. it is friday night after all. so tgif bay area. let's take a look at what we can expect. not just this weekend but early this upcoming week tracking our second atmospheric river in less than a month. we are seeing some high clouds overhead in the bay area. and dry conditions for the most part. but out in the pacific. we're going to keep an eye on our next storm and a possible atmosphere river influence thanks to that pineapple express. >> and even typhoon remnants, believe it or not, futurecast for though, could see some light scattered showers by saturday afternoon. for those of you in the north bay, specifically santa rosa. but really just bringing traces amount of rain. we're going to remain dry all weekend long until monday. that's when that storm door is going to reopen for us in the bay area

tracking light bands of rain arriving. for those of you in the north bay and then the wet weather set to arrive as that storm track shifts to the south and east for the rest of the bay area by monday night. that's when it's really going to peak intensity very unstable atmosphere could see a pop-up thunderstorm or 2 primarily for those of you in the north bay that was at wet weather is going to continue through early tuesday morning during the overnight hours until we start to notice light scattered showers by tuesday morning and afternoon drier conditions by tuesday night. so rain totals looking really impressive. not as strong as a last atmospheric river in october. but this one beneficial nonetheless, one to 2 inches for most of the bay area of to 4 inches. for those of you in the north bay and we are going to see, though, from now. until then, dry cool conditions right now already cooling down into the low to mid 50's and then we're going to continue to see winds out

of the west. so going to see at cool sea breeze and then by around the overnight hours, we're going to cool down even more. not as chilly as last night, though. thanks to that blanket of cloud cover overhead mid to upper 40's for the north bay valleys, santa rosa and napa. 46 to 49 degrees there. everyone else in the bay area pretty uniform numbers in the low to mid 50's and daytime highs tomorrow. about 3 to 5 degrees below average with napa cooling down to 59 degrees. and we're going to stay below average. most of this upcoming week until we warm up dry out and clear out a week from today with seasonal temperatures returning to the bay area. pam and ken, back to you. bree said thank you. well, tomorrow morning, the first 5 to 11 year-olds in marin county will be gettig their first dose of the pfizer covid vaccine county leaders spent the afternoon setting up a mass vaccination clinic at middle miller creek middle school. >> kron four's amanda hari is there now is just how many children health officials plan to vaccinate this weekend. amanda.

>> health officials tell me they'll be vaccinating 500 children each day. that's on saturday and sunday. they tell me they've been spending months preparing for all of this. and in just about 12 hours, those children will be lining up in this hallway behind me to get those vaccines. >> these vaccination slots filled up incredibly so there's a lot of demand and from the parents in marin county leaders in marin county transformed the miller creek middle school gymnasium. >> into a vaccine clinic ahead of one of the first pediatric vaccination clinics in the county. >> it takes a community and higher community to to this work public health preparedness program manager amber davis says for her. >> it's personal. it's a really is being a mother myself. i have a child of age now to get vaccinated. it's a really big deal. and she

wasn't the only parent excited about the vaccine clinic. all 1000 spots to vaccinate 5 to 11 year-olds this weekend. >> filled up in less than 10 minutes was ticketmaster concert p people were really clamoring. >> to get their children, these appointments davis as more appointments will become available, but it will take time. it's currently a slow rollout of vaccine coming into the county. she says they can't use the same supply. they have for people over the age 12. that's because children 5 to 11 will be getting one 3rd dose adolescents and adults receive. >> it's different amount for that owes its a different amount of tell you and and it's also different supplies. but county leaders are working to get every child that's eligible and wants a shot that acts an aide patrick mcloughlin. but the marin county office of education. >> says they're strategically setting up these clinics throughout the county. we have kind of a northern marion county, which will be out the about a high school we have. this is. >> kind of our central

location. >> and then we have a southern marin county location at strawberry points. >> the vaccination clinic will be from 9 to 5. both saturday and sunday. all the kids to get vaccinated here this weekend will be booked for their second vaccination right back here. the first week of december live in moraine county. amanda hari kron 4 news, a man with such strong demand. the appointments filling up so fast to health leaders have any idea when all the kids will be able to be vaccinated and do they have enough doses. >> they say they're getting more supply. every single day and they'll be opening up more appointments. >> they say they hope they get all 5 to 11 year-olds who want to be vaccinated, their first dose by the end of november. so hopefully they'll have their second dose by the new year. >> all right, amanda, thank you for that live report for us tonight. approval of the pediatric dose of pfizer's

covid vaccine is also allowing the contra costa county public health department to administer the shot. and a day earlier than planned contra. costa health services says all 410 appointments available at its 3 locations offering the shot are booked this weekend. this week, health services and all other public and private health care providers in the county. total of 20,000 doses and more are expected in the coming weeks for young children and their parents. >> the first step to normal. >> we're just going to have comfort sending her to school. >> in addition to the concrete location, the contra costa county is offering the pediatric dose by appointment only at the richmond auditorium and the reed is community center in antioch tuesdays through saturdays. >> as for the remaining bay area counties. here's what's going on. napa county will open up a clinic in about 10 days on november 15th alameda county's planning for a clinic about the same time but has not yet set an exact date.

sonoma county will not be hosting one big clinic site, but instead will be doing individual vaccination sessions at different schools. those will start on tuesday and solano county has not yet set a date for its clinic. besides these county run locations. the doses will also be available at pharmacies and pediatrician offices throughout the bay area for concerned parents with questions about covid vaccinations for young children. a pair of doctors at sutter health provided some answers kron four's haaziq mod-yoon reports. >> so one of the other big questions we're hearing whether or not my child's to get vaccinated if they've had covid. and the answer to that question is yes, sutter health pediatricians doctors. stephanie chang and judith valero answer some of the pressing questions concerned. parents have now that the cdc approved vaccinating 5 to 11 year-old children against covid-19 like what's the size of the recommended dosage for

peaks. but throughout the lake level. about half an inch of rain or less and gusty winds as well through 6 o'clock saturday morning. we could see gusts upwards of 40 miles per hour. increasing wave heights throughout the eastern portions of south lake tahoe by 2 to 4 feet. and let's take a look at tomorrow's forecast. noticeably cooler than today. today we were in the 50's tomorrow. cooling down into the upper 40's and then that cool air mass is going to continue on sunday with temperatures cooling down into the mid 40's. and we're going to see that mixture of rain and snow showers with the atmospheric river making its presence known in the sierra by around monday night temperatures out there right now for us in the bay area widespread mid to upper 50's alameda 59 degrees. 57 degrees for those of you in downtown san francisco and nevado napa, though, and the late currently at 56 degrees in daytime highs tomorrow we're going to be 3 to 5 degrees below average. our inland valley should be warming up into the low 70's

before and after arbery was shot and killed father and son greg and travis mcmichael and their neighbor. william bryan are all accused in arbery's murder from last year. video of that incident surface. 2 months later, sparking widespread outrage and demonstrations prosecutors show that video with the moments leading up to and including arbery's killing the defendant's claim that they thought he was a robbery suspect prosecutors said the defendants were making an assumption. officials say the trial could last for 2 weeks or more even if the defendants are acquitted, they still face federal hate crime charges. and with that trial set to begin next february in wisconsin. the prosecution in the kyle rittenhouse trial continued to call witnesses today. authorities say rittenhouse killed 2 men and wounded a 3rd during demonstrations in kenosha last year. today, prosecutors called former marine jason last koski to the stand as

approval to that bipartisan. 1 trillion dollar infrastructure bill that had been voted on republicans and democrats supporting this measure. it deals with roads, traditional infrastructure issues in the nation shovels in the ground into a building roads and that kind of thing. the house passed a measure, 228 to 206. the bigger question is what's going to happen to the other measure. a 10 year, 1.8 5. >> trillion dollar measure that would help. but with health care, family and climate change programs that has been sidetracked after moderates demanded a cost estimate on that measure of the congressional budget office that is being put off until later this month. and of course, the progressives in the democratic party had been battling more or less with the moderates over the future of that particular bill that dealt with, as ken said, a lot of the social issues that the progressives are pushing that bill now will be, as ken said again, pushed off for a vote later this is an important victory for president biden tonight. who? >> at hope to have at least

one of these bills passed before he left to go to the g 20 meeting. nonetheless, he does get at least a victory on this one, dale tonight. they will continue to have coverage and bring you more throughout the evening. on to other news now. residents and merchants along san francisco's haight street are rattled about 2 shootings with 3 victims in just over 2 weeks on that world famous one man was killed. another was wounded in a shooting yesterday at hate and masonic. >> another person was critically injured just a block away on october 22nd kron four's maureen kelly has new information on the man who was killed. >> there's a growing memorial of candles and flowers here on haight street near masonic avenue with a double shooting took place. there are many stuffed animals left behind for the young man who was killed he's been identified by the medical examiner's office as 21 year-old samuel jessup of san francisco police kept a visible presence nearby. many merchants did not want to go

are shocked. this frightening this frightening and it kind of jay z and on that we're all experiencing because we've got the covid we've got this. we've got that. >> and then when you presley lose somebody on your street are next to you. is frightening. >> the haight street merchants association is holding a special meeting in the wake of this violence, its president saying one shooting in this neighborhood is disturbing multiple shootings even more so maureen kelly kron 4 news. >> a san francisco police sergeant must go to rehab. that's after he was arrested for allegedly robbing a san mateo pharmacy, san mateo police say that it was about 6 o'clock on wednesday night when officers were called to about a robbery at a rite aid store. they say they encountered the suspect just outside the store. sergeant devan cole, a 27 year veteran of the san francisco police force was arrested for robbery and resisting arrest. cole's attorney says the incident

and we're going to track that high cloud cover hanging tight at least through the 1st half of the weekend with our next atmospheric river off the coast going to make its way inland by monday night. but from now until then. >> very dry conditions for the bay area could see some light scattered showers, though in the north bay by around your new lunchtime hour on saturday. and it's mainly just going to hover over the north as it quickly passes just traces amount of rain if any dry for everyone else in the bay area and then we're going to notice better clearing for the 2nd half of your weekend. but taking a sneak peek at your microclimate saturday out, low temperatures going to remain on the cooler side. about 3 to 5 degrees below average with downtown san francisco and the mission district warming up into the mid 60's. going to see some breezy winds along the san francisco peninsula 20 miles per hour. less of daly city in half moon bay in the low 60's their brisbane warming up to 63 degrees. but burlingame in millbrae 62 degrees for your
