gray friday afternoon. ahead. 40's and 50's for our current temperatures. we've got santa rosa on the cooler side of things that 43 while pittsburgh and brentwood each in the mid-fifties later on today. we are going to see daytime highs in the 60's much like yesterday showers staying out of the region. so just stress for some fall weather sweaters, light jackets going to come in handy today john, thank you for that. all right. let's get a look at your traffic this morning. no major delays out there. there's a lot of construction going on. >> like along highway 24 5, 1880, but i'm not seeing that causing a delay for you. a little under 10 minutes. if you're traveling from the east bay into the city to make it to that 3 months to exit the san mateo bridge had across towards the peninsula. you can make that drive in a little under 13 minutes and the richmond center fell commute a little under don, as you travel out of richmond. traffic is picking up there. let's look at the golden gate bridge heading from the north bay to the tolls. a little under 20 minutes. we'll have more weather and traffic coming up for now, let's get back to the news. california
senator axel, alex padilla introduced new legislation that's going to help fema better addressed natural disasters, including wildfires the fire act would make several changes to the stanford act which governs fema changes would include guaranteeing that fema disaster preparedness and response efforts fully address the unique nature of wildfires and their effect on our communities. it's going to also direct fema to pre deploy assets during times of highest risk such as those red flag warnings. >> want to make sure that fema is better providing technical to rural communities may be lower income communities to get them resources that they deserve. >> well, the dia says the fire act is already gaining support from both sides of the aisle. 2 people were hospitalized. second and 3rd degree burns after what you just saw a
propane tank caught fire and exploded in a truck. but that's scary. this happened monday night in lexington, north carolina. witnesses say the blast shook the entire area knocking out power to a nearby restaurant and completely destroyed. >> the truck hauling the propane tank. the blast also damaged 3 other vehicles near that truck. the 2 men who were injured are now recovering at home. what a san francisco police officer is accused of trying to rob a someone called san mateo police wednesday night and told him. >> someone's trying to steal from the rite aid pharmacy when police showed up, they say the man 5 right away about the officers were able to catch and arrest him. and we have confirmed that the suspect is sfpd officer darren call. for the east bay berkeley. police say a person has died after a crash sent their car into the marina wednesday night just before 8 o'clock. officials say the car was speeding down university avenue when it hit several
objects before crashed into the water. the car became submerged in the marina and the driver was found dead inside. san jose. police have shut down an underground casino. 2 men are suspected to be behind that operation. police say mike lee in john le hosted drug dealings. illegal gambling and the buying and selling of stolen property illegal indoor marijuana grow was also found on the premise. here's a look at what police seized at one location. police found 33 pounds of marijuana 25 pounds of thc products. 2 handguns. a loaded high capacity rifle magazine another spot. authorities seized 300 pounds of marijuana. 2 guns, ammunition and $30,000 in cash. talked about this yesterday. a car draw a lot of a cliff in pacifica. now the car was found when chp officers notice tire tracks. near double slide
yesterday morning when they looked over the edge of the cliff. that's when they saw the car 50 feet below floating in the water. the driver was already out of the car and tried to climb up the cliff rescue crews were also called to the scene. the man had some minor scrapes miraculously and some pain. but otherwise appear to be okay. >> kept asking him over and over. is it are you the only occupant of that vehicle because as you saw that vehicles in the water upside down and we're noticing kids toys floating in water. so our big concern was it was there anybody else in that vehicle and he kept relaying that there he was only occupant. so it was a huge relief. >> wow. amazing that that was the outcome. we'll seize pieces. they're still investigating the cause of that crash. they don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved. >> no of a lease, you know, 8 to 10 other instances in the few months of this happening. people got shot. taco pepper sprayed. you and for just doing nothing but just taking pictures.
>> the bay area photographers and others across the country want to ignite change from camera manufacturers after countless deaths and violent robberies kron four's. taylor is actually spoke to photographer that was robbed at gunpoint. >> terrifying moments when an east bay in his driveway the whole thing happened and it was over within. >> and 20 seconds right. so there was not even a moment to kind of have a rational thought what what should i do. this kicks lewis who didn't want to use his last name says. >> he had just returned home from shooting photos in marine when 2 men in face masks approached his car soon after they smashed his back window and took off with his camera bag reviewing his tesla cameras and home surveillance. he quickly realized the suspects have been following him to his house all the way from the north bay impacted their car just to kind of stop. and you the skate right.
>> and that's what i saw the driver. and, you know, come out and come around his car with a gun pointed to my trees. all right. and and i'm like, it's just just kind of freaked out and you walk around my car. that's not for the gunshot go off. >> thankfully no one was injured but lewis and other photographers say this incident from september proves that it doesn't matter where you are. if you're seen with a camera, you instantly become a target and people like to believe there's something that they could do to avoid this crime or they think. >> it hasn't happened to me because i've been smart enough to do x, y z. and i think the truth is that if you're out there with an expensive piece of equipment. it's a matter of time popular youtubers and photographers chelsea and tony north throughout have been pushing for better anti-theft technology and cameras for a while now. they along with lewis and other photographers. >> just started a petition to demand change from camera manufacturers. what we need to do right now.
>> camera manufacturers that we need some kind of protection or devices just like you would expect with any other expensive modern piece of electronics. some of their suggestions in the petition include passcodes lens, pairing gps tracking biometrics in remote disabling so far. >> a couple 1000 people have back to the cause and signed the petition and taylor reporting kron 4 news. >> well, in that fremont robbery detectives arrested one of the 2 suspects 35 year old dearman clinton of richmond. he now faces several charges including attempted homicide assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. well, the pittsburgh man, a woman accused of the carmel woman's death made a brief appearance in a fairfield courtroom, jessica and markle contentnea will be arraigned next friday. november 12 prosecutors have charged jessica with killing 19 you're all lei lani jessica's brother marko faces charges of assess or even

right. well, the white mother of a biracial black daughter is accusing southwest airlines of racial profiling. she says they took a flight from san jose to denver last month as they exited the plane. they were detained on the jet way by gate agent and 2 police officers. >> tenants. just concerned about top of the when you board the over following up on or not says we're not expecting anything. >> it's i will. that claim turned out to not be to be not entirely true kron 4 obtained. this police report indicating a southwest flight attendant. contacted authorities believing the woman was involved in human trafficking. >> their claim that we boarded the flight suspiciously late. we allegedly did not speak to each other during the flight. and that we. allegedly i allegedly forbade the flight crew from speaking to my daughter. none of those 3 claims are true.

>> well, welcome back to the kron 4 morning news here on this friday. i'm reyna harvey. thanks for waking up with us on november 5th. and we've got a lot of surprises that we're in for over the weekend, including an extra hour of hands and drier conditions. our meteorologists on travel has been tracking that, you know, it's going to be a special a weekend. whenever john on new suit. tell us about the haha, i celebrate my favorite day of the year, which is that extra hour's sleep. i think a lot of us enjoy that maybe don't enjoy the sun going down an hour earlier, at least that's the way will perceive it. >> because of that extra hour that you're getting at the start of your day. instead. now we are going to be looking at a dry weekend as you're venturing outside today, dry conditions just on the cloudier side out there skies will grow ever cloudier into
the afternoon ahead of us financial district, an area that is looking at relatively clear conditions for the moment. definitely foggier towards our inland valleys and especially on to the central valley. now, rainfall is headed to mendocino county and not really anywhere else. we are looking at a dry weekend system skirting just to our north and you'll see that showing up in future cast here in a second for the bay area. we're just going to see the increase cloud cover from this passing system not going to be tapping into any of that moisture unless you're in the farthest northern reaches of sonoma county. so an evening with rainfall along the redwood coastline of the north coast of the state. well, the bay area. it's looks at some clouds and some cool weather overall this weekend. a couple sprinkles are possible tomorrow mostly just for the north bay. that's nothing more than a drop or 2 or water here. there you can see that showing up in future cast for areas like santa rosa, maybe a trace of a sprinkle here or there. most of that rainfall concentrated well to the north of us as far as temperatures go today, it is going to be a
day in the 60's with low to mid 60's at the coastline and some upper 60's elsewhere. this is very similar to where we spent the day yesterday. we're just now going to be seeing as much sunshine. so that is going to have an impact on the feels like temperature, just making for a cooler fall feel to your friday. oakland at 64 degrees. while the creek and antioch at 67. well, looking at some 50's out towards point raise and stinson beach tomorrow's highs right around the same as today as we do get cooler after that for a bit from sunday on into tuesday of next week with monday night into tuesday, bringing our best chances of rain reyna john, thank you for that. all right. let's get a check at your friday morning commute. things are pretty light. >> for the most part at this hour's traveling from the east bay into the city. no accident. a little under 9 minutes for you to make that drive to the fremont street exit in the city. let's head over get a look at the san mateo bridge as you head across towards the peninsula you make that drive in a little under 13 minutes. we'll have more weather and traffic all throughout the morning. but for now, let's get over to
sports buster posey retires at age 34 after 12 seasons of his career and many pay tribute to him. kron four's, callum mills has the latest on that. >> it is the end of an era for the san francisco giants longtime star catcher buster posey has retired. he made the announcement at oracle park saying that he wants to spend more time with his family and to let his body recover with the 5th selection. >> and the first round. of the 2008 1st year player draft. the san francisco giants select gerald be posing one of the. >> the greatest days of my life. and you know. i had about, you know, i'm excited about getting started. >> buster posey made his major league debut on 9/11/2000, 9 recording his first hit 8 days later. but it was his first full season in 2000, 10 in which posey quickly began to lay the foundation of his legacy winning the national league rookie of the year
award and leading the giants to their first world series title ever in san francisco after more than half a century. san francisco finally had a world series champion after a devastating injury that ended his 2011 season. posey came back in 2000, 12 with a vengeance catching matt cain's perfect game playing in his first all-star game winning the batting title earning his first silver slugger award and being named comeback player of the year and mvp of the national league. but he was even better in the postseason hitting a grand slam in game 5 of the nlds against the reds to give the giants the series after they trailed 2 games to none his 2 run homerun off max scherzer in game 4 of the world series propelled the giants to a four-game sweep of the favored tigers and their second world series title in 3 years. posey signed an 8 year extension with the giants in 2000, 13 a shearing. he'd be in san francisco for at least the rest of the decade. one
season later after another 300 plus average 20 plus homer season. posey was celebrating once again in late october after the giants defeated the royals for their 3rd world series championship in 5 seasons over the next 5 years. posey made the all-star team 4 times won a gold glove to silver slugger awards and letter rebuilding giants team to the postseason in 2000. 16 in the covid shortened 2020 season posey opted out. he and his wife kristen, had just adopted premature twin girls and the catcher wanted more safe time with his family, including daughter, addison and son lead. while many wondered if posey could regain the magic on the diamond is he came back for the 20 21 season at age 34 buster was better than ever hitting over 300 for the 6th time making his 7th all-star team and leading the giants to a historic 107 win
season and their first division title in 9 years. but for giants, fans, posey was much more than just a great player. he was a fan favorite family man team leader and a winner. he is one of those rare athletes who is immediately recognizable by just one name as one young giants fan put it, my dad had joe montana. i had buster posey's iconic legacy in the bay area and beyond will only be further cemented in the future as he'll surely join mays, mccovey and marischal with his own statue outside oracle park and an induction into baseball's hall of fame. >> it's about the time spent with family. the countless nights and days. pulling for your team riding the emotions of the highs riding the emotions of the lows. and ultimately enjoying the people that you're with along the way and making great memories together.
>> thank you to buster posey for so many great memories for everyone around the giants organization. he said he looks forward to spending time with his wife and 4 kids. but he's unsure of what his future might hold beyond that, he said his family plans to move back to georgia at some point where he and his wife are both from. they met in high school. by the way, posey said he will miss the camaraderie and his teammates. the most. what a what a career that was kylen mills reporting for us this morning. we are going to be right back after the break.
