looking at conditions today. that will be a lot less definitely drier. in fact, it's just damp out there this morning because of yesterday's rain. so as you are venturing out on the roadways. don't expected to be necessarily an. >> the driest of conditions. we saw showers remaining last night for many areas. and thus we still do have some wet spots out there just looking nice over berkeley hills camera right here a little bit low cloud cover aside from that. nothing to interrupt your morning commute. you are looking at a drive you on radar just confirming that conditions out there have cleared out really nicely 50's for most of our current temperatures conquered. you're one of warmer spots at 61. a little cooler across the north bay jackets on this morning towards the afternoon with the sunshine and the slight warm-up. it's going to be feeling really nice tom, thanks for that. so we do have a hot spot. we've been talking about this all morning. >> and any westbound highway 4 to that northbound one 60 connector ramp. it's close to have an overturned tractor trailer and us feel here. so they're trying to get all that

cleared up vasco road all the way down to 5.80. would be a good alternate to try to get around that heading into the city from the east bay. a little under 18 minutes for your drive time. they're not seen any accidents along 5.18, 80's a traveling to every berkeley. so that's good. as you're traveling there, roadways are still very slick and conditions. so definitely want to slow down as you're traveling a little under 15 minutes heading across towards the peninsula and in the south bay along one o one traveling towards menlo park a little under 34 minutes. no issues along 82 or 2.37. darya. james, back to you. thanks to 7. oh, 02:00am. >> and this morning. right now the cdc there's a panel meeting so that they can talk about how and whether and if to give the pfizer vaccine to kids kids. you have between 5.11 years old and their decision could impact a whole lot of them 4. sarah stinson live in the newsroom following all of us. good morning, sarah. >> good morning. the cdc advisory committee is starting to gather right now in atlanta. this is the last regulatory hurdle for pfizer's vaccine for kids. the fda pave

the way last week approving the pfizer vaccine for kids. as you said, ages 5 to 11 years old. and today the cdc is expected to give clearance as well. the kid sized doses are just a 3rd of the amount given to teens and adults. if the vaccine gets approved today. 28 million american children just as it is to lead 5 to 11 could be eligible for vaccinations this week. health officials say children are at low risk of severe illness or death from covid-19 than older people. but they're still risk. and that's why the vaccine is being considered for kids so far. kids in age group. there's been 8300 hospitalizations and 104 46 deaths reported the government has also counted 2000 coronavirus related school closures. a few countries have already started using other covid-19 vaccines, including china which just started vaccinating 3 year-olds. well,

european regulators are still considering pfizer's vaccine for kids just like we are after the cdc's expected approval today. pfizer says they're ready to go big it. they're ready to start shipping millions of vials of pediatric vaccines and orange caps to avoid mix-ups with the purple caps that's used for everybody >> over the next couple of days. several million doses will start arriving at local pediatricians and family. doctors offices pharmacies children's hospitals, community health centers, rural health clinics and other locations. more doses will be packed and shipped and delivered each and every day over the next week or so. and more and more sites will come online as we ramp up. >> and that was the white house covid response team now once the cdc ruling goes into effect in doses are shipped eligible kids will get 2 shots. 3 weeks apart now around 8.15 this morning. our time. the discussion about the

been campaigning with president biden and vice president kamala harris. most polls have this as a very close race will be interesting to see how the results come back. meanwhile, back here in the bay area a safeway in san francisco's castro district is cutting its hours because of shoplifting. the location on market street and church is now closing at 9 o'clock every night. and the stores also going to be getting rid of it. self-checkout lanes safely spokesperson says these changes are necessary in order to maintain a safe and welcoming shopping experience for customers but also working experience for their employees. now, san francisco supervisor rafael edelman says that he is calling on police and the district attorney to do more to stop these thefts. >> happening tonight, the walnut creek city council considers banning the sale of flavored tobacco and e-cigarettes. if they pass it businesses would have 5 months before the law is enforced. earlier this year. contra costa county restricted the sale of flavored tobacco in the unincorporated parts of

the county. so many kids are vaping and willow glen high that they've had to close some of the restrooms to try to stop them from vaping in the bathrooms and now there are fewer bathrooms to choose from on campus. and so some of the kids are complaining. this is not the best way to address the problem. >> one time i was almost late one of my classes because i ended up spending. the whole passing period. it's 7 minutes, which should be enough time to go to the bathroom and then go to class. >> it's not ok that the kids have to use time that they should be learning and being educated. to stand in line for a bathroom. >> in a letter to parents. the school says it does plan to reopen some of the restrooms on monday and they say they are working on other solutions to stop students from vaping. >> speaking of schools today, the san francisco unified school district is going to be

unveiling its plan to try to avoid being taken over by the school district during a special meeting today. they're going to roll out some of their well, some of the mitigation techniques to try and prevent a takeover by the state. they have a projected 125 million dollar budget shortfall. and that's why the state has told them unless you get that fixed. we're going to take over a couple of the things that they're thinking about doing maybe cutting a number of student programs and services. they're also thinking about potentially changing its student funding formula. so we'll see what they come up with. meanwhile, happening today. engineers who work for kaiser permanente in walnut creek are going to be protesting. it's going to start at about 1130 this morning out of kaiser medical center. the workers say that their benefits and wages are being cut and they want the company to renegotiate with them. the union representing the engineers say that the employees are responsible for maintaining all of the mechanical systems in the building and that includes the medical equipment used by patients. >> 7. yeah, we'll give ourselves break because i think it's a pretty nice day. it is. john. >> today's the day after the rains will have the perfectly good air quality will have the sunshine to enjoy. and it's just going to be a really appreciated one because after the rainfall things just feel a little bit nicer out there. i know the hillsides around my house are already looking really, really green. just get your spirits up out of the coastline right now. not so green. just a little bit on the gray side. we've had some misty conditions in half moon bay this morning visibility, all in all has been okay, but we are looking at a lot of low cloud cover this morning. so a grey start to what will eventually become a pretty sunny later afternoon around the corner. as for the big picture here, really all that rainfall we saw yesterday has exited the region. this is going to set us up for a nice and dry day today. some misty spots this morning increase sunshine into the later afternoon and tonight a dry night tomorrow morning's commute to work is going to be really easy. in fact, tomorrow itself is going to be a really

nice one as our next rain fall won't arrive until well after sunset tomorrow night really for the most part after the stroke of midnight into thursday morning. predawn showers moving through the bay area to start your thursday will set us up for some wet roadways and a messy commute thursday morning. most of that rainfall will have cleared through by the afternoon and the rest of the day. thursday will drive back out. as for today they'll be 60's and 70's across the bay area 60's closer to the coastline and a good share of 70's mixed in with those upper 60's elsewhere. now it's not only going to be a bit warmer than yesterday. but it's also going to be a bit sunnier and that along with our dry conditions. just means a better opportunity to step outside and enjoy what will be a beautiful tuesday afternoon around the corner. if the dog didn't want to go outside at all yesterday because of the rain today will be a good excuse to take them on a bit of a longer walk. tomorrow's temperatures will be our warmest of the forecast before showers do arrive, as i mentioned well, after the sun sets wednesday night thursday

morning. a rough commute to work but drying out through the day on thursday, friday and saturday looking like nice and dry days a chance of some light rainfall on sunday. but what i'd be more concerned about sunday's making sure those clocks are adjusted as will be falling back an hour reyna town thing so that what we've been focused on that hot spot along an antioch at highway 4. we'll get to that in a moment. >> let's look at the bay bridge to traffic is picking up here. we know we have high winds here. in addition to that, you've got slick road conditions. so we're starting to see some slowing along the overpass. 5, 1880 still moving along pretty sluggishly at this hour. this is where that hot spot is. it's an antioch. we have an overturned tractor trailer and a spill so that westbound for northbound one, 60 connector. they've close that ramp there. so vasco road to 5.80 could be a good alternate if you're trying to travel there, the richmond center fell bridge a little under 17 minutes as you travel out of richmond. this is what i was talking about as you're heading from crockett down towards the maze. a full 31 minutes for you to make that

biden did pledge to lead by example. but in order to accomplish his climate goals. the president needs his build back better plan to be passed and it's currently stuck in congress. >> at the un climate summit monday, president joe biden told fellow world leaders. there's no time to waste. will we see the enormous opportunity for us. >> or you are really can damage future generations to suffer climate change is making droughts wildfires and severe storms worse and scientists warn that without swifter action. the damage to the planet and to humanity. >> could be irreversible. president biden vowed to slash us emissions in half below 2005 levels by 2030. and he said the u.s. will seek to become a net 0 emissions economy no later than 2050. >> we're standing at an inflection point in world history. we have the ability to invest in ourselves and build equitable clean energy

representative from howard university. students were protesting about the living conditions on campus. he fell during one of those meetings hit his head. they did a scan apparently everything came back normal. we do know that the reverend jackson has parkinson's disease been hospitalized twice this year. so far, including for covid-19 infection, but he and he's resting well, and we'll keep you updated on his condition. >> 7.25 and issues with american airlines continue this morning, which means issues. if you're trying to get flight 90 flight have been canceled so far this morning. and as you might know, they had to cancel, but 2000 flights between friday and yesterday. this is you know, unique to american the other airlines have all had sort of these growing plane. southwest had cut to cancel 2000 flight last month and a lot of other airlines were hit by this between weather and staffing issues because of maybe their covid rules and the like. and then the increase in travel. it's all quite the pickle

berkeley hills camera isn't looking at in the sunshine just yet, though fog cast is showing that we do have a couple of spots of lower visibility at the coast in across the north bay. but it hasn't been widespread just a couple of patches of it to watch out for. roadways are still damp. so give yourself that extra time to get outside and do bundle up or in the 50's for most of the bay. this afternoon gets much more comfortable. i have the rundown on all of that. still ahead right now. john, thank you for that busy conditions along the bay bridge. we have a disabled vehicle. >> 80 westbound near that treasure island exit. so we've got that and high winds and we'll slick roadways. and so that's why we're seeing more traffic along the bay bridge here. another hot spot, traffic collision and spill. westbound ford and northbound one 60 that connector ramp any acts still close vasco road to 5.80. would be a good alternate try to get around that other bridges at a pretty slow right now. little under 15 minutes via the san mateo bridge. the richmond sandra fell bridge. the san mateo bridge is pretty slow as well as you're heading across towards the peninsula. look at

they are looking at an abundant area from sonoma mendocino line all the way to lopez point in monterey county that area'sprich with crowd. but for the crab fisherman unfortunately for them. it's also at this particular time. they have a lot of humpback whales and turtles in that area as well. endangered species. so they have be protected with all those lines in there. those humpback whales and turtles can get tangled up and that means they can get injured or even killed until they leave the area, the state to fish and wildlife. they're not allowing the crab fisherman to go out to that particular area and you know, it might be a minor inconvenience for us not to have crab on the thanksgiving dinner table. but for at one, as you and i were talking this hurts financially. oh, right. oh, yes, definitely. hurts very financially. specially like last year we got pushed back after christmas. >> and you know, that's our huge part of our income. we invest so much into this industry to try to recruitment

back out before the holiday so we can have presents under a tree like every other family here in america. if we don't have that spare. chris, do you understand or it's kind of hard because you have a family to feed. but there are also protecting endangered species. i'm definitely all about protecting wildlife. i mean, that's how i make my living is to protect our wildlife and make our wildlife. but i think there's a little bit give and take here. and we've given a lot in our industry to this and i feel like we've cut back and done a lot of this to protect these wells and feels like the fish and game work with us a little bit so we can open on time so we can get that market and you know, feed our families. there's a little bit maybe silver lining there still you hoping to go out there, at least say 14. yes. i'm hoping to go out before christmas. if he goes, you typically after christmas new year's the weather gets rough and for most of us that small

boats. it's a whole nother. interesting side of things will hear from matt moore his colleague coming up on the kron 00:00am morning news as we go on. but interestingly enough guys. they make about a quarter to a 3rd of their income for crab fishing season. so this is. >> devastating to crab fishermen like matt right behind me. >> back to you. all right, kate. yes, the beginning impact more than just what's on our table. thank you. will 7, 7, 35 right now. and let's go to the south bay where a community in gilroy gathered to remember a young man who was shot and killed at a party over the weekend. 18 year-old michael zuniga, c, a is his name. and he was one of 4 young people who were shot and a party after a fight broke out and this was on the home of the gilroy city council member rebecca armand are as so far, one person has been arrested for the shooting. police have arrested 8 pastor in morgan hill on suspicion of molesting multiple children.

authorities say 65 year-old carlos kuz stray han of hollister faces more than a dozen charges including lewd acts by use of force on a child under the age of 14. cas tehran is a pastor at the mysterious 10 arrested on has sway and investigators believe that he may have additional victims who are not identified yet. so if anybody has information you can remain apanonymous, but you're asked t call the morgan hill police. >> in the north bay 3 people including 2 air force members are under arrest now in connection to the murder of a young woman. we have pictures of the victim identified as 19 year-old about a bowl champ. she was last seen alive on saturday morning. he was at a halloween party in sacramento. she left that party with to active duty air force members and then on sunday her remains were found in monterey county police discovered that both champ was killed at a home on cascade lane in fairfield where one of the air force

members lived a 21 year-old woman is now accused of actually killing both champ and 2 men are accused of being accessories to that murder. police haven't revealed yet how that victim died. >> 7.36 in the east bay. take a look at the new tiny houses. there's a whole community near oakland's lake merritt for the homeless. this shelter project is at the corner of east 12th street and pake merritt boulevard. and residents are going to be able have electricity and heat and water and even health care as well. >> this will be a partnership with the city with my office, with our service providers as well. as the community neighbors businesses. the faith community and others. this is a project that is working to get people into transitional and permanent housing. so we will be helping residents on a case by case basis to make sure that they will be on a path to the house. >> the city partnered with the nonprofit housing consortium of the east bay as well as community leaders to make the
