>> when fun time from the bay area's local news station. you.re watching kron. 4 news. >> tonight at 10. there is a chance of rain later on in the week. bay area air quality advisories are going to remain in effect through monday. what you need to know as we head into this next week as we take a live look here now facing toward san francisco and the east bay. thank you so much for joining us here during kron, 4 news at 10 o'clock tonight. i'm justine waltman. jonathan is off this evening now smoke from wildfires in southern california is expected to continue impacting
the bay area air tomorrow was smoky and hazy skies. so the air quality district says that we should be prepared for our air quality to be not that great that it's going to be exceeding federal health standards. but there is no spare the air alert in effect. our meteorologist rebecca strom is joining us now to look ahead towards the work week. it's got a little something for everyone. yeah, it really does justine. we're seeing a nice warm clear evening around the bay area tonight. >> and we're going to be seeing some warm for the next 2 days or so before things start to taper off temperature wise. and then we could see some rain as we get towards the end of the week. right now, though, nothing but a clear conditions. a nice shot of the golden gate bridge. normally we see it socked by the fog can really make out the towers. sometimes you can't even make out the deck but not tonight we're seeing a nice and clear skies pretty no matter where you are tonight around the bay area. so take advantage of it and these temperatures look at this worse. finally seeing a 50 on the board 59 in nevada. but
otherwise we're looking at mostly 60's and 70's. nice and mild tonight. 71 degrees and conquered in hayward, 69 right here in san francisco. oakland you're currently at 65 degrees. 72 in downtown san jose futurecast for showing us said that, yes, the clear conditions will continue through tomorrow with lots of sunshine and then things are. so we'll start to cool down. once we get into the middle of that cloud cover. the marine layer coming through the bay area letting those temperatures to get nice and cool and also a storm system that we have our eye on the could be bringing us some wet weather starting to the far north of friday evening. but late friday we could see some of those raindrops into saturday and then it looks like a thing should be dry on your sunday. so the 2nd half of your weekend should be a nice and dry. but get those umbrellas out just in case because we're keeping an eye on that storm system coming out of the pacific northwest. so tomorrow still sunny and warm again. 80's and 90's and
some are hotter inland spots. and then later in the week, it's finally going to start to feel more like october. but we just have to get through these temperatures tomorrow and then enjoy some of the fall temperatures. that is if you like a nice chunk. the sweaters. you can wear and the warm cups of hot cider 76 tomorrow for the high in san francisco. a lot of sunshine. it's going to be beautiful, half moon bay with a high of 72 83 in hayward tomorrow. 91 in concord and pretty toasty out there in livermore as well. i'll have more details on now. my seven-day around the bay forecast coming up in just a bit. justine, back to you. thank you so much. a man is expected to survive after he was bitten by a shark while surfing near bodega bay this morning. >> the degas bay fire protection district paramedics say the man was bitten on his thigh and then had to be airlifted to the hospital. kron and harry tells us what it was like on salmon creek beach this morning when the shark attack happehed. >> a man that was with the shark bite victim when it happens, says it all happened
so quickly. he wasn't able to process just how scary it what's. >> also nice on l a he was saying he was saying how. >> he was gerry davis was surfing with a shark bite victim on salmon creek near bodega bay early sunday morning. he says a wave overtook the victim and then davis saw the shark when he was back into i saw the dorsal fin of the shark. >> and then saw the tail end of the show. when the victim started yelling about the shark both davis and the victim paddle back to shore when they got to the beach davis saw the bite and i saw his leg. it looks like he had a red stripe on this. let's see he called but that was actually the davis says about a dozen surfers all came to shore to help. they used a surf least to apply a tourniquet soon. paramedics arrived within minutes the ambulance, he and then a
couple minutes more today give a fire protection district paramedics. jonathan bauer and timothy say that this is something they've never experienced before. but they knew how to handle that ball. the cause was very unique. the attacked by the shark. >> that hitting injuries are treated basically the same all the time. being tonight for a stabbing wound or you noticed, stephanie, something anything really they called in california highway patrol to airlift the man to santa rosa memorial hospital. both paramedics want to emphasize that shark attacks are extremely rare these are very, very infrequent. and so it shouldn't be a cause to concerned of the water. and so they're going to be doing an investigation and what. >> caused this california highway patrol says the victim is in stable condition and that he will survive. amanda hari kron 4 news. >> other news tonight, union city police held a press conference today to address the city's first homicide of the year. police say a 35
year-old man died in a shooting that happened on friday night around 8.30, at queen and drive. let's listen now to police. >> when officers arrived on scene, they located. i'm a single victim, a male who is 35 years old least one gunshot wound officers on scene, attempted life. they met. but ultimately the victim was pronounced at the scene. but as fire matter. >> officer jimenez also told us the shooting happened in a residential area. they're still investigating the motive as well as looking for suspects. a fresno woman died after an early morning shooting in east oakland. it happened around 3.15 this morning on foothill boulevard near the franklin rec center. and when officers arrived at the scene, they found evidence of the shooting but no victims and not long after they got a call from an area hospital saying 2 people walked in with multiple gunshot wounds. investigators say the woman died from her injuries at the hospital. and this will now
mark the city's 100 and 6th homicide of the year. no other information was released about the condition of the second victim. in the east bay. heavy smoke was coming out of a residential home as oakland firefighters were called to a 2 story house near 79th avenue and holly street this morning around 1030. this is what they saw. they were able to get this fire out pretty quickly and no injuries were reported. new tonight at 10 o'clock. the city of fairfield this cracking down on sideshows on wednesday, the city's ordinance on side show spectators will go into effect, meaning people just watching the sideshow could face a misdemeanor charge. the new ordinance prohibits knowingly being a spectator at a sideshow or speed race. the ordinance is enforceable on all city roadways, public property and private property without the owner's consent. this applies to drivers passengers and pedestrians a violation of this ordinance is a misdemeanor punishable by 6
months in jail or a $1000. fine. the city of san jose adopted a similar law to crack down on sideshows. there. now to sacramento police arrested a suspect after an overnight ambulance heist. police say they received reports of a stolen ambulance from a local hospital that was driving recklessly and hitting cars injuring the driver a helicopter found the stolen vehicle downtown when the suspect ran away in the area of 23rd street and democracy. ali, police say the suspected thief was arrested on several felony charges. we're going out of southern california in orange county crews are working to clean up a potential environmental catastrophe, a major oil spill has been stopped, but they had to close off miles of shoreline and trigger an urgent response in order to protect the orange county coast. reporter colors. the has the latest on this developing situation. >> an ecological disaster in the waters off the orange
county coastline. the leak at an offshore oil rig spilling more than 120,000 gallons of crude oil affecting the communities of newport and huntington beach is about the oil spill. so i decided to just get my stuff and get out there. see what i can do. >> might a dog a lot. put her gloves on to volunteer on her own and clean up the environmental mess. i what i saw was just chunks and chunks of oil. it looked like. >> really hard sand. but with the like try to break it apart. it was impossible. the toxic spill was reported saturday morning. it's deadly consequences washing up on shore. there was a discharge of oil of heavy crude oil that took place. >> we assess about 4 and a half miles off the coast of huntington beach. and newport beach. the spill was likely caused by pipeline leak from a facility operated by beta offshore. the california subsidiary of houston base amplify energy, a platform located 5 miles off the coast.
the pipeline has since been shut off. we currently have divers on the. >> potential source we are investigating the source and potential cause officials have closed off the ocean ensure from see point to the santa ana river. >> even canceling the air show which draws thousands aircraft could be seen grounded sunday afternoon, federal, state and local authorities warning people not to fish, swim and surf. >> due to the possible health hazards. >> there shouldn't be anybody swimming. we are proactively trailing the beach and notifying people to get out of the water cleanup. now a monumental task. >> we do have both on water and onshore operations ongoing right now we have boats deployed that are recovering oil that is able to be recovered. >> that was carlos saucedo reporting for us tonight and coming up this hour during kron 4 news fleet week is back. we'll take a look at this week's events, everything you need to know if you plan

fleet week is celebrating its 40th anniversary in the air show includes the navy parachute team. >> the red bull air force wing suit skydivers and of course, the blue angels. if you do plan to go in person to see all the events, the city's covid protocols are still in place during fleet week. masks are required. on all us navy vessels and you will be asked to wear a face covering and show proof of vaccination with the matching id for any event that takes place indoors. >> there is little bit different the the local rules on local property basically we can continue to encourage people to wear a mask. you must wear a mask indoors given the large crowds are also encouraging people to wear a outside. >> so here now is a look at some of the events happening this week. the fun will kick off wednesday with the ship tours and you can take a look
at all the vessels on thursday, saturday, sunday and monday, the honor our fallen concert takes place wednesday at 6 o'clock. the parade of ships starts friday at 11. then things got a little bit louder after that, the air show is friday, saturday and sunday. and you can also check out the canine heroes on saturday from 10:00am until 2. it's all happening down at marina. green. but if you want to go down in person. we got a show for you next saturday night. but this year is how the west was won. the san francisco giants defeated the san diego padres today 11 to 4 crowning the giants, the national league west division champions for the first time since 2012 kron four's taylor sackey has reaction from very excited fans. >> a san francisco giants fans on sunday. as the giants took on a must-win attitude to their regular season finale
against the san diego padres totally exciting. you can feel all the electricity all through the whole stadium. despite saturday's loss. fans were optimistic about their chances on sunday feeling great. we're going to turn w today clinch the nl west playoffs, 107 went. having a great time everybody's really dialed in. this is definitely a playoff atmosphere weekend. all the playoff games in the world series during the early 2010's run. it was fantastic. >> and we're just looking forward to having us some more playoff magic here and oracle park jj panzer in his partner michelle bear. injure have been going to giants games together for years and has since become a family part of >> our family really coming to see that eye and actually day. they caught. >> foul and they were both their first games. so this is really something special for us. so we're really happy to be here today. a special game for all giants fans on sunday.

temperatures because they're going to go away in the next couple of days. so trying to get outside trying to enjoy those some of the hot spots that you might want to stay indoors. but for now, look at this clear conditions tonight and a nice a warm evening, pretty much no matter where you're at mild to warm. that is san francisco international airport. not a cloud in the sky. no fog in your way. but here's a breakdown of the highs tomorrow that you can look forward to to be nice and mild. so warm across much of san francisco downtown. you'll be at a high of 76 tomorrow. little bit cooler in the sunset district at 65 and then at the coast we're seeing 60's and 70's mild conditions and elder. not a at 68 for the high. lots of sunshine and half moon bay at a high of 72 tomorrow afternoon, 80 degrees. if you're going to be in millbrae south san francisco. you'll be a high of 76 degrees. a little bit warmer. those we move across the peninsula 89 near 90 expected in woodside tomorrow afternoon redwood city. you'll be at a high of 84. you're going to be in the south bay. look at this 90 degrees in morgan hill tomorrow. 89
degrees. it's going to be los gatos 85 for the high and milpitas tomorrow. 90's, though, popping up on the board, especially if you're going to be further in the like pleasanton livermore. both tying 91 degrees tomorrow. a little bit nicer of warmer and union city and hayward. the east bay shoreline just topping out to the low 80's tomorrow. but still lots of sun to enjoy 90's, though a lot hotter as we get into walnut creek and danville. you'll be the high 94 brentwood 92 degrees tomorrow. high of 93 in lot sunshine in discovery bay and they're going to see a lot of those 90's continue through pittsburgh fairfield vacaville. you'll be at 92 yon feel 88 and then you're north bay zone. here's what it looks like. a little bit of a mixed bag. it's going to be, of course, cooler at the coast in beach at 66. but so we're looking at the upper 80's as we get into petaluma and nevado sandra fell. you'll be a high of 88 tomorrow. looking ahead, though big changes are on the way. so we'll start to taper down temperature rise,
especially inland by wednesday. that's almost a 15 degree difference. inland 60's at the coast and around the bay and then even cooler as we get towards thursday and friday. there's that chance of rain that we've been talking about even rain into saturday. so we might see a the 1st half of the weekend a little bit wet and then sanction trial on sunday. definitely cooler. yes, much cooler. we have a lot of rain or not questionable, but the temperatures are definitely going to drawn sleaze long slim bundle up. alright, this evening loaded dc where democrats are on capitol hill and they remain divided on the price tag of president biden's build back better agenda. >> moderates have pushed for a watered down version of the package while progressives insist the plans. 3.5 trillion dollar price tag would boost the economy as it rebuilds following the pandemic. after weeks of haggling, democratic leaders delayed friday's vote indefinitely. a republican senator said earlier today if the democrats want to pass a pricey spending plan. they're
going to have to do it alone. >> every republican is united against it. bernie sanders the far left. democrats are driving the bus and joe biden is just along for the ride. >> senate democrats would need every democrat on board to pass the bill through reconciliation at the moment. democratic senators joe manchin and krysten sinema say they will not supported unless democrats cut the price tag by at least one and a half trillion dollars. now 6 months after congress passed the american rescue plan billions of dollars in aid still has not reached the public. the federal stimulus package included 350 billion for state and local programs. however, an associated press report found that more than half of you have cities. us cities reported no new funds were distributed over the summer. the biden administration says it's not concerned about the pace of the spending because the package was designed for both immediate relief and

check this out. a teenager in the uk has now been charged with staging a motorcycle accident that they say wasted critical first responder resources. >> surveillance cameras captured him wheeling his bike onto the road, laying it down and then crawling underneath it. the team leader called for help and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he told
doctors he couldn't feel his legs. he also pretended to slip in and out of consciousness. it's unclear why the teen stage this incident. a newly unveiled statue of george floyd was vandalized in new york city's union square and people were cleaning up the mess earlier today. police say they've reviewed surveillance video that shows someone throwing blue paint on the statue earlier this morning. the statue was part of an exhibition that was unveiled last thursday. it features sculptures of civil rights leaders and congressman john lewis alongside george floyd and breonna taylor who were both killed by police in 2020. floyd statue was also vandalized. what was on display in brooklyn over the summer. and college students are trying to identify voting rights. demonstrators involved in the march across selma's edmund pettus bridge in 1965 the day, also known as blood. he sunday students at auburn university created a facebook page where people can look through photographs of march

the forty-niners. when jimmy garoppolo exited the game after the 1st half of the calf injury. lance took the reins. he had a couple moments where he looked truly great that untapped potential that we've been talking about all offseason. and during this current season. but plenty of moments as well where he looked a bit lost in kyle shanahan's offense. i think they're a you know, good and bad throughout the miss once missed some easy just definitely few plays that i want but like i said, you go back and watch tonight. i learned a lot from that kind of know what it feels to be thrown out there the fire because it's kind of what happened to me when i was a rookie. >> just you just got to go out like i told him, i said i got the first drive of the way now. i mean, go out and be yourself. and you know, we've got your back and that is what happened. >> as you can see, he made a place for us and give us a chance to come back again. >> they ran the ball. had some passes obviously miss him passes was in a tough situation. there were down 2 scores did a good job move the chains couple time with this lakes. but it looked like a
