overnight lows will be warmer thanks to the blanket of storm clouds overhead in the upper 40s and low 50s in the bay area. daytime highs monday will be a few degrees below normal because of the first storm of the week, expect highs in the upper 50s and low to mid 60s. periods of rain are expected from late sunday night through thursday of next week as a series of storm systems impact northern california. these storm systems look to bring mainly beneficial rain to the area. dry weather and warmer conditions will return late next week into early next weekend. (jrstone) valero says the cause was an operational issue with it's flue gas scrubber. (justine) smoke was billowing over the city of benicia this morning. the refinery is located on second street. city officials sent a text alert to residents to stay indoors due to the poor air conditions... right now, the health advisory has been lifted because the air quality has improved. kron 4's gayle ong has the latest.

(jrstone) in the east bay -- a pittsburg pricinpal who police say -- was shot by his wife -- died today.(justine) "paul shatswell" had been on life support... after the shooting last weekend at a home on barrie drive. police got a call about a domestic incident and found the 45-year-old shot in the head. shatswell was a principal at pittsburg adult education center. right now --his wife 39-year-old ámaria videsá is charged with attempted murder... that could now chage to a murder charge, with his death today. she is being held on 2- million dollars bail at the contra costa sheriff's office jail in martinez. the couple have 8 children together. this is the city of pittsburg's first homocide of the year. developing news tonight. one person is dead and the injury count has gone up to áfiveá people hurt in last night's shooting in san francisco. police say the shooting happened around 8:40 p-m in the 13-hundred block of fillmore. that's near fillmore an eddy street in the city's western addition. police say the person killed was a 25-year-old man from san francisco. of the five injured -- a 27-year-old man suffered life-threatening wounds. we are not aware of any arrests that have been made. if you have any information, call san francisco police. po-69su (justine) president donald trump reacting to the details in attorney general william barr's summarization of the mueller report. (justine) police in southern california are investigating a possible arson and hate crime at a mosque. (jrstone) the mosque is located about 30 miles north of san diego. investigators say -- the fire started early this morning... members of the mosque put out the flames quickly and the building suffered minor damage. the suspects left a note referencing the deadly attakcs in new zealand. that's putting mosque members on edge tonight. "you know what, do don't feel anymore safe here because of what's going on around the world right now and also what happened in new zealand and the mosque over there." about 40-thousand people gathered for an event in christchurch honoring the 50 people killed in the march 15th attack on two mosques. (justine) for the second time in a week, another parkland, florida shooting survivor has died in an apparent suicide. the community was already mourning the death of a former student, sydney aiello , who died last sunday. her mother says she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and suffered from survivor's guilt. now police say a current student died last night. police are investigating -- but are calling it an apparent suicide. the student's name has not been released. a father of another survivor says it isn't easy to know how is mentally suffering. a funeral a funeral for aiello, who was a student at florida atlantic university, took place on friday.

(justine) according to a new survey ... they're not working. catherine heenan reports a record number number of young americans now say they have no romantic partner. one may be the loneliest number ... but now it's also the most common number for americans between the ages of 18 and 35.the national opinion research center says a record high 51 percent now say they have no romantic partner. that's up six percent from two years ago ... and 18 percent from 2004.that's a significantly higher number than other age groups ... among 35 to 49 year olds, the percentage drops dramatically to 21 percent before rising again with age.the survey also found marked differences based on political affiliation. forty=one percent of democrats said they had no romantic partner.only 29 percent of

stranded on a cruise ship shared shocking video on social media ...more than a thousand people were on board when engine troubles left them helpless in rough waters off the western coast of norway. crashes within six months. since then -- american airlines said it's canceling about 90 flights a day. prior to today's announcement - - american only canceled flights through march 28th. (justine) check the sticker on avocados. the henry avocado corporation is recalling its california-grown avocados because of listeria concerns. the company says -- its california packing facility tested positive during a routine government inspection. no illnesses have been reported so far. the recall applies to six states including california. government issued a statement today denying that r&b singer r. kelly booked concerts in the united arab emirates city. the rare statement came days after kelly's lawyers filed a motion seeking permission for the singer to travel to dubai on a private jet to perform concerts and meet some well known figures. in a rare statement, the government's dubai media office also denied claims by his lawyer in court that kelly had plans to meet one of the well known royal families in the country. kelly's lawyer responded saying in part that "mr. kelly had a signed contract with a legitimate promoter, and any information that was included in the motion to travel was from that travel was from that contract." (jrstone) as a way of celebrating women's month we are honoring those women making a difference in our community. tonight we are celebrating the work of maria obledo and her pack of scouts in oakland. the boy scouts of america recently announced that they are now allowing

girls of all ages. maria started the first all girls pack of scouts here in the san francisco bay area. earlier this week i had a chance to talk with maria and all of her young scouts who are pretty excited about what is to come. nats...these are girl scouts...i mean boy scouts....no scouts. they are girls who are now part of the boy scouts of america. recently allowed to join at all levels and eventually earn eagle scout status. in fact this is the first san francisco bay area all girls pack which is based out of oakland.sot it's like a boy and girl scoutssot we don't have to be it doesn't have to just be boys that are doing the boy scouts it can be girls and boys.sot the boys i see them acting up but mostly in the girls we are more calmer... maria obledo is the scout leader who started the pack. maria says they tried girl scouts years ago but the girls were interested in what the boys were doing in boy scouts. so...when the boy scouts of america recently announced

people across the northern u-s and canada are getting a rare chance to see the northern lights. forecasters with noaa say a geo-magnetic storm is pushing the aurora borealis farther south this weekend. that means people from maine to montana could be seeing the northern lights... including areas as far south as iowa and colorado. scientists say the event started march 20th. that's when a powerful burst of solar energy sent a large stream of electrically-charged particles streaming towards earth.
