to the next level. where live in san francisco with details on the old problem. >> reporter: that's right, the spray can victims tell me that generally they feel safer parking their car in a garage than on the street. still, they were not protected from burglars. in one case, they even showed up at her home. >> why me? why me, again? drip this is the second time in three weeks. a san francisco football, food blogger was broken into. >> i saw my car was smashed. the driver-side. it wasn't just my car, there were other cars broken into as well. truck she did not leave any valuables inside and nothing was taken. >> there were three security guards and he was there when i came to the car.

he said actually we came down because we heard an alarm. they were trying to get another car close by to mine. security scared them away. he said just right before that, they were attacking the car on the fourth floor. when they came up they managed to attack another car before running away. truck san francisco sought 2000 break-ins in the last 30 days. the driver of this mercedes- benz who wants to remain anonymous shed these photos with kpix 5. she said not only did thieves smash her car window, it cleaned out her glove compartment and stole the garage opener and found her address. she said that same day, burglars drove to her east bay home and attempted to break in. she said her car was parked in the hilton financial district garage on kearny street.

>> it is making me question if it is safe in the city. it is making everyone question, should we drive our car, what should we do? it is so dangerous. >> reporter: replacing windows right now can be costly. i recently did a report on the glass shortage. drivers are waiting longer for windows to be replaced and also paying more than they would be during the pre-pandemic time. >> when i go home at night you can see the sides of the streets lined with shattered glass. you wonder when the city is going to do something or when it will and. in san francisco, thank you. an investigation is underway after a contract worker fell to his death at a refinery. it happened around 10:30 last night in solano county. investigators are looking into what led to the worker falling six stories. the cause of his death and whether the incident was work- related is unknown at the time. valero is cooperating with

local agencies. a police officer was responding when collided with another car. the officer is expected to be okay. a passenger in the other car also went to the hospital. a child is safe and a man is under arrest after an amber alert ended in hayward. the kidnapping was caught on a neighbor's camera. the 30-year-old snatched a little boy out of his mother's arms yesterday. the suspect is seen breaking the window of a black car in the front yard. the mother and suspect knew one another. a neighbor says he is at a loss for words after seeing all this play out right at his front door. >> them arguing and then the mom , it looks like she wanted help, but i could not help her.

i was occupied with something else. >> the man drove off with the three-year-old boy. hours later he was caught in hayward and later booked on charges related to the kidnapping. the little boy is safe and in good health. jails are seeing a big jump in covered cases. the highest increase since earlier this month. as of friday, there were 140 active cases at the elmwood gel in milpitas in the jail in san jose. most are at elmwood. the new figures are more than eight times than just 10 days ago. a live look, it is going to be easier to get a booster shot. adults 18 and over are able to get the vaccine based on the timing of their last dose. the city's health department says they don't want to turn away anyone who is eligible.

case rates are increasing just before the busy holiday season >> i found out they were giving them out here. i came immediately to get mine. i just decided today was the day. >> reporter: the city says vaccine clinics and pharmacies will start making the change. previously the fda approved booster shots for seniors, adults with underlying medical conditions, and adults who work in high-risk settings. during the pandemic you might have eaten at a streetside parklet. we spoke with both sides of the battle and have more in this report. >> should they stay or go? the town is trying to answer that question. they are not alone. many bay area cities are struggling to find a solution and balance. linda invested her heart and soul into this downtown store.

>> i have no issue with paying a fee to rent those parking spaces or whatever would be fair. truck she owns a restaurant and says this is why her 24-year- old restaurant is still in business. >> there still people not willing to go inside. they are unvested, unvaccinated or worried about upticks in cases. >> reporter: they say this provides bribe and see -- vibrancy. >> as they are here, we have seen our business grow. i asked patients how they heard about us. we were down here dining. >> leaders are delaying a vote on whether or not to make them permanent both sides have failed to reach a compromise. >> let's have that discussion. if everything goes back to normal, if that is a possibility, i would be happy to take it down. >> i just want to get along and succeed together. >> that is a tough one.

five dollars per gallon. prices have gone up in six of the last seven days. the average price of a gallon roast two since to $4.60. california has some of the highest gas prices in the nation. in just the last week prices climbed 6 cents per gallon. if your car has a 14 gallon tank it will cost you an extra $21 to fill it up today than last november. refineries have had to do unplanned maintenance in recent days which usually reduces the level of production. a spokesperson explained other factors contributing. >> the main reason we have seen these pump price increases week after week is because of higher crude oil prices and also the demand for fuel has continued during the fall months. >> reporter: crude oil accounts for a littof the pump price.

aaa says you can get the most mileage by making sure you keep up with your regular car maintenance getting oil changes and keeping your tires properly inflated. they expect some prices to remain high throughout the holiday season. >> in the bay area, we are seeing some of the highest prices in the entire state. have a look at a few of these. according to aaa, san rafael is seeing $4.88 per gallon. san jose slightly cheaper at $4.78. >> a lot of pictures of san jose were the vietnamese community unveiled a new war memorial remembering the south vietnamese shoulder, soldiers who fought in the vietnam war. the bronze image honors soldiers who battled communist forces 50 years ago.

the fog was actually a lot worse than this for the north bay and east a values. let me show you why it is building back. we will go to an unusual satellite image. this is the imagery in the overnight hours where you have to go off of the ability to read temperatures rather than actually giving you the visual view. central fog, there is the bay area. you can watch the fog, it is growing over the last few hours. there is already a dense fog advisory that the national weather service has issued. back here at home, it is the northbay valleys all up and down 101 and into napa. you have a dense fog advisory that will not expire until noon. it will go and while and visibility will drop. it is also the delta and the east bay valleys. so, concord, places like martinez, you had a good amount

of fog this morning. livermore, you are included. san jose peninsula, east bay shoreline not included in it yet? maybe you will have to be. this morning you are. it was kind of tough to see your way across the san mateo bridge this morning. right now it is clear. as we check out the other bridge we would normally think of as having issues, there are no issues. this is a totally different kind of fog. this is not coming in from the pacific. this is the fog that builds and through the central valley and creeps into the delta coming in the back door. it can be some of the most difficult stuff to drive through. tomorrow morning or early morning, there is your head up. santa rosa has some fog, oakland and concord do. if we look at the visibility map we are down to 3/10 of a mile. those numbers say it is about half a mile in santa rosa.

morning lows tomorrow will go back down pretty much into the upper 40s and low 50s. we will watch daytime highs rebound into the mid-70s. temperatures still feel great. we get rid of the fog by noon and it is mainly a nice day with a few high clouds. we don't really have significant rain events to talk about anymore. if you look at the big picture you can see the rain appears getting pulled away from us. a little bit of wants to trying get thrown our way from monday night into tuesday. if we are going to see rain, maybe thursday. i did not put it in the 7-day forecast, but the clouds increase. certainly cooler. you will see the same thing play out across our microclimate. you will go from the mid-70s to the low 60s by the time we get to thursday. late-night sports, we like it, we love it, we have antti
