[ laughter ] let's get to some news everyone's talking about this. last night, las vegas raiders head coach jon gruden resigned after old emails came out showing his use of homophobic, racist and misogynistic language [ audience boos oh, lord you know how bad it's got to be get kicked out of las vegas? [ laughter ] they got no rules there. yeah in statement, gruden said, "i apologize. my 19,000 offensive emails are not who i am." [ laughter ] besides his coaching job, gruden lost endorsement deal with skechers. [ audience aws ] [ laughter ] yup, skechers said their deal with gruden no longer made
sense and then people were like, "did it ever?" [ laughter ] some news from overseas. kim jong un just held an event where he showed off north korea's weapons. and at one point, he said he was so proud of his country's weapons that strokes, touches and washes them. [ laughter ] all the soldiers were like, "you want us to leave, or? [ laughter ] during the event, kim jong un posed for a photo with some soldiers but one guy really stood out for me look at look at this who's that guy [ laughter ] i'm sorry, is that the missile that he's been watching and -- [ laughter ] >> steve: stroking >> jimmy: can we see him again [ laughter ] looks like he's wearing a a 1920s football helmet in the shape of a football. did they just shoot him out of a cannon [ laughter ] that looks like the mascot for southwest airlines [ laughter ]
and get this, the creator of "squid games" said former president trump's election was one of the events that inspired him to finally make the show [ light laughter ] waiting for trump to respond because you if think he's going to read nine hours of subtitles, you've forgotten who you're dealing with. [ laughter ] and then more entertainment news, disney plus just released the first footage of the new "home alone" reboot that's coming out next month. it's short movie though 'cause kid has a ring doorbell and just calls the police. [ laughter ] can we see the star of the new "home alone? he looks like higgins. [ laughter ] yeah, my man, dude >> steve: come on. >> jimmy: got to do the sequel, dude [ cheers and applause meanwhile i saw that the first trailer for the upcoming "scream 5" movie just came out, and the new film hits theaters january 14th, so just in time for halloween. [ laughter ] january 14th, only thing we'll
be screaming about is for people to take down their christmas lights [ light laughter ] well some vaccine news, moderna recently said it has no plans to share the recipe for its covid vaccine. [ light laughter ] apparently, it's been passed down from generation to generation just like mama used to make. [ laughter ] in a new interview, prince charles said that the aston martin that he's driven for more than five decades now runs on fuel made from english wine and cheese. [ laughter ] yeah, it runs on wine and cheese, which sounds more like a t-shirt that your aunt would wear [ laughter ] >> steve: come on. >> jimmy: i run on wine and cheese that's pretty good [ applause ] i'd buy it meanwhile today, they ran out of wine and cheese at a party and the guy had to run out and siphoned the tank. [ laughter ] finally you guys, there's a lot going on in the news right now, but instead of me just telling you about, i thought i'd be nice to give you a chance to decide what we talk about. that's right it's time for "you pick the joke." here we go

[ laughter ] the man was trying to sell a a catalytic converter but in the background you can see a a large bag of meth. [ cheers and applause >> jimmy: you want to talk about one or two [ audience says two >> jimmy: that's a great choice that's right a guy is trying to sell a converter on facebook accidentally posted a picture of his meth. [ laughter ] facebook was like, "you can't sell that here what do you think this is, walmart? [ laughter ] but facebook users were like, "spike that meth with horse dewormer, and you got yourself
a deal." [ laughter and applause let's do another pair of stories. once again, you guys get to pick he's story number one. >> a pair of journalists have won this year's nobel peace prize. >> jimmy: and here is -- [ laughter ] >> steve: that seems exciting. >> jimmy: what's that? >> steve: that seems exciting. >> jimmy: yeah that's right yeah well, let's see what story number two >> steve: yeah >> couple in the uk made quite the mistake. after long night of drinking, the pair decided they would sneak into a water park and go down one of the slides they wound up being stuck in this for two hours before police found them. >> jimmy: wow. [ laughter ] what do guys talk about one or two? [ audience says two yeah great choice that's right a couple got drunk, tried to go down a water slide and got stuck. took them two hours to remove the couple and the jaws of life to remove their wedgies. [ laughter ] even weirder, at 2:00 a.m. there was still a lifeguard at the top like, "you can go, you can go, you can go you can go." [ laughter and applause "you can go.

>> yeah. >> jimmy: saying like, "oh, i don't know if he's good looking enough i don't know if he's tough enough." >> that's true, so that's fine [ laughter ] >> jimmy: no, fully. no, i just -- but i love that in the documentary, you see this and you go, "oh, all this stuff is going in your head. you're reading these reviews and you go, "i'm not going to read anymore i'm just gonna go work." >> yeah. >> jimmy: and then you go to the set. >> yeah. >> jimmy: and everyone on the set are reading the same articles >> and looking at their feet, wondering how's this gonna go. >> jimmy: yeah >> but what do you do? you put your head down i knew we had an amazing script i knew we had a great director we had an amazing cast we were doing stunts, which, at the time i knew were incredible i didn't know how good they were gonna be, but i knew that they were gonna be pretty great. and you think, well, that's all we can do. you do your best and then, if you don't like it, fair enough, i'll walk away and say, "i gave it a go." >> jimmy: but they found you you were just -- you were doing these kind of independent films and art films. >> yeah. >> jimmy: and they go -- and then you trained seven days a week >> yeah. >> jimmy: and all you needed was that one - >> eight days of week. >> jimmy: sorry, eight days a week of course. [ light laughter ] you came -- you did that once. you came out of the water in the ocean in the swimsuit and paparazzi got you, and that's
it that's our bond, right there that's the stud. that is daniel craig forever [ cheers and applause he is a stud this is your fifth film. you've done this for 15 years. so far the movies have made over $3.2 billion. >> i didn't know that. [ light laughter ] >> jimmy: insane right >> that's incredible yeah, yeah >> jimmy: and i want to say, that you left your mark, obviously. and now we can call you commander craig. >> oh yeah >> jimmy: because the britain royal navy just made you an honorary commander >> i know, yes [ cheers and applause >> jimmy: that's amazing, right? >> i mean, my father -- i mean it's really nice for me. my father was in the navy. he sadly passed last year. and i thought, it meant a lot. what an honor. incredible thing i met the first sea lord, who has now just become commander of all british armed forces. he's just been promoted. and we did a very small ceremony because of covid.
i mean, the idea is i go on to a naval ship, and i get piped aboard i get a suit made, a savile row tailor i mean, whole bit with the hat we'll do that soon i hope. >> jimmy: yeah >> and i can put it on my passport, i think. >> jimmy: can you really wow. i think people know who you are, you don't need passport anymore. yeah but i do also want to say, after seeing the documentary, how great the producers, barbara broccoli and michael g >> yeah. >> jimmy: wilson did, amazing attention to detail, and just keeping -- this is our guy we're sticking with him. and then you all came together and it's just the passion, the love that goes into every scene. >> well, they make, you know, they do this thing, they make a family and like any family, there's ups and downs. you know, a little bit of back and forth, which is great. but ultimately, we've got each other's backs and we're looking out for each other and that is really, you know, that's what makes them so special. i mean, every movie is a a creative process, and you kind of have -- you know, i love my job.
so every day is great for me but when you're on a bond movie, you kind of realize that this is -- it's special there's nothing quite like it. and then all that talent around you and this passionate -- and particularly on this movie, there was just -- from every department, they were just sort of willing it to kind of be the best we could make it. >> jimmy: was it super emotional because you knew it was the last one >> i just cried. i mean, it wasn't while we were filming it i don't have time to think about that sort of thing you always think about tomorrow or next week or whatever you're doing. there's always fires to put out and things to do but the last night, it was like 2:00 in the morning, it's back lot of pinewood, it's pissing with rain. it's kind of apt as it could be and all i do is i'm in a tuxedo and i walk down, it's in the movie. i walk down an alleyway, and that's it for my last scene. and most movies, when you finish them, they're just big anticlimaxes you sort of -- everybody so tired, you're just like, "see you. bye. you know, want to get home >> jimmy: yeah
>> and every single person in the office stayed late all the cast stayed late all the cast, all the crew had stayed late. and all the heads of department they all came. suddenly there's 200 people standing there and i had to make a speech, which is just lovely [ laughter ] >> jimmy: i could never do it. i mean, but also, these faces that you've seen change for 15 years. >> yeah, yeah, yeah. >> jimmy: saying goodbye >> we all got older together >> jimmy: yeah, it's kind of amazing. is there any way -- should i set up the film at all for this or just say it's another - >> what? we're looking at something >> jimmy: yeah, we'll look at a clip >> i don't need you to set it up the db5's in it. >> jimmy: yeah, everyone knows it [ light laughter ] yeah i want to show -- here's daniel craig as james bond in "no time to die. take a look at this. [ laughter ] >> but i had to get up there, and sort of like incrementally go higher and higher and higher and higher and eventually i was sort of leaping out of windows onto moving busses it was quite an arc. >> jimmy: wow! [ laughter ] >> yeah. >> jimmy: "skyfall." >> judi dench. that's easy. >> jimmy: yeah >> i mean, you know, the fact that i got to work with her on three movies and she's one of the most glorious, delicious human beings on planet earth >> jimmy: she is, right? >> yeah. [ laughter ] >> jimmy: also, she does who doesn't love judi dench? but also i remember adele doing the theme. >> and having -- >> jimmy: adele >> i mean, it's all -- >> jimmy: yeah "spectre." >> we did the biggest explosion in movie history in the moroccan desert.
i don't know we told the moroccan government that we were doing it. [ laughter ] but all i know is that lea seydoux and i were standing there, and we basically they -- they were on our back, and they rolled the camera. and this thing started blowing up, and i could feel lea just like -- just leaping further back i was just saying, "stay in shot, stay in shot we can't do this again, we can't do this again. >> jimmy: wow. >> i mean, it was terrifying i mean, it was just like this thing rose up. it's percussion on your face and it was remarkable. and kind of incredibly moving in weird way >> jimmy: yeah >> yeah. yeah >> jimmy: "no time to die. >> so many memories from that. i don't know it's like the culmination of all that that's what i'd say. i mean, that just -- this exists because of these four >> jimmy: yeah i can't even begin to thank you enough as a fan just movies but also the james bond.

pretty viral but it's -- i got -- i'm like i got accepted and hilary duff started this amazing music class with a a bunch of moms that she's friends with and i showed up and i was trying to act really cool but i was dying inside because there was, like, mandy moore and ashley tisdale and hilary duff and i'm just like, "oh!" >> jimmy: wow. >> my dreams!" >> jimmy: are you -- i know you're a big "lizzy mcguire" fan, right >> huge. >> jimmy: me too >> yeah, my alias at hotels name would be lizzy mcguire. but my husband is an even more bigger mandy moore fan she doesn't know this though, but he named his hamster mandy moore when he was growing up [ laughter ] >> jimmy: oh, god. he can't admit that to her no, no, no, yeah but what - >> no. >> jimmy: all these -- madny moore's kid and your kid singing in same music class, i know they're babies but it's got to sound pretty good >> singing away. >> jimmy: i'd buy it [ laughter ] i'd buy it yeah, come on. i mean, how cute is that >> it would be adorable. >> jimmy: well, i want to talk about "clash of the cover bands. this is tomorrow on e!
9:30, wednesday. 9:30 on e! i'm excited because i'm producing this show. >> you're a part of it >> jimmy: yeah i'm a major part of this [ cheers and applause i'm so excited that you did this, because you know, i love -- we both love music, and i do love cover bands. so when someone came up with this idea, i go, "oh, we got to do this. we talked about cover bands when you were on our show because your family was in a a cover band was it island fusion or something? >> yes, it was this is so embrassing but, yeah [ laughter ] i was in a - >> jimmy: i love the name. >> band with family, island fusion, and we do, like, pop songs, and - songs, and funk, it was great. >> jimmy: yeah and now, doing this, what was your experience like being a a judge on - by the way, the winner gets to come on "the tonight show. >> woo, and perform. >> jimmy: and, yeah, performing on the show tonight. it's a big deal. i love - >> and money >> jimmy: and they get money yeah, i mean, this is a game
changer for a lot of people, yeah [ laughter ] but i love -- we can't say who wins or who our favorites are, but there were some knockout performances >> yeah. they were really unbelievable. i know we had, i remember we had a cher and celine dion and -- >> jimmy: oh, that's right >> i remember, in the building, people would come up to my family and say, "oh, my god. did you hear that cher is here?" like, they really fooled everyone in that building, because they were so good. >> jimmy: yeah, what do you think is the key to having a a good cover band? >> i think not -- never thinking that you're better than the original icon and i also loved a lot of the covers we had when they would stay in character. like when we were interviewing them and asked them questions they were like bono or they were celine dion >> jimmy: yes. >> oh, i love you. yeah >> jimmy: isn't that great i remember seeing a beatles cover band years ago >> yes >> jimmy: and they all just stayed in character.
and they're like, "hey, john." "what, paul? and he goes, "right now there's $1 tequila shots at the bar. [ light laughter ] they were, like, pitching discounts for booze at the bar i go, "you never seen john and paul ever do that. but they loved the beatles so much, and they were like - it was just fun. and i just - >> yeah. >> jimmy: i just thought this experience was so good if you love music, if you love watching these awesome battles play out, it's definitely worth it by the way, i will say, the elton john is amazing. >> that -- yeah, that was one of my favorites. his outfits are so good. >> jimmy: yeah and we also, like, upped the game once they came to our show with wardrobe and whatever we could do to play it up >> oh, yeah. >> jimmy: i think you're going to love it and you're fantastic on it. so thank you so much it's fun working with you, bud >> thanks for thinking of me, i love you [ laughter ] >> jimmy: i want to share a clip, here's a peek at "clash of the cover bands." take a look at this. >> that's bono [ applause ] [ laughter ] >> meghan, break it down for
