"Survival Guide for Outsiders" - When a book has a words "survival guide" in its title, you might expect the author to be an outdoors expert or a special operations soldier. But the author of "The Survival Guide for Outsiders: How to Protect Yourself from Politicians, Experts, and Other Insiders" is a local mathematician. He's Sherman Stein, Professor Emeritus at UC Davis. You'll meet him and hear about the book.
Historic Train Update - The painstaking restoration of a rare, historic locomotive in the Sierra foothills is finally over. Sierra No. 3, a Rogers engine, was built in 1891 and appeared in dozens of films and TV shows, but she's been out of commission for years. Now Sierra No. 3 has been restored and will be unveiled this weekend at her home in Jamestown at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park.
The New Humans - Electronic dance-rock is coming to Sacramento's Concerts in the Park. The headliner this Friday is Sacramento band The New Humans. They made a bit of a splash this year with their theatrical-sounding single "Fever." The New Humans joined us on Insight in Februrary.
