Policy
the free mu$ic project
can art be free? free from the monetary constraints and gravity of our consumer based culture? consider that today:
$ success in music is measured by how much money the music generates
$ major record labels pay upwards of $250,000 per song for their hits to be broadcast to the masses via commercial radio
$ artists are encouraged to plug into the homogenized 3 minute formula that sells rather than take risks, color outside the lines of the commercial formula, or actually say something with a fresh, unfiltered voice (music that does that is called un-marketable)
$ under the current system you dont hear true indy voices unless you consciously seek them out.
the harmonica pocket supports free music, the continued right to burn CDR copies of the cds you buy, and keeping peer-to-peer file trading legal in our consumption based culture. the license below is granted as a model to generate and lubricate more free music along to new ears.
in your life RE-THINK old ways and initiate CHANGE. try new things. turn off the television. go see local bands and buy their records. talk to strangers and SUPPORT INDEPENDENT MUSIC!!
for future collaborations we are looking for musicians of all electronic and unusual styles; a graphic designer, film makers; help with music publishing; and anyone who believes in the project. if youd like to make a donation please pick up a full length harmonica pocket record from CDBABY.com. wed love to hear your thoughts after you put this music in your earhole and LISTEN.
thanks for listening,
