Taping and trading is welcomed, but only of live performances not commercially available.
Bill Foreman and General Ludd Music welcome the trading of live
recordings of Bill's music, provided the performance in question is not officially for sale. Listeners are welcome to record performances, and indeed are encouraged to. Trading both officially available and unreleased studio recordings, however, is both legally forbidden as a violation of copyright law and classless to boot. The exception to this rule is for recordings Bill has himself made freely available. Trade the live stuff. Spread the word. Bear in mind, though, that General Ludd Music is not a big corporation, and that profits from music put up
for sale go to the artist and his family. In other words, to a worthy cause.
on August 16, 2005 Bill Foreman gave the OK for archive.org:
"Bill Foreman here. I write to grant archive.org permission to archive live recordings of my music. I only want live recordings not commercially available to be traded. No studio recordings, released or no."
RE: mp3 ok?
"I'm very happy to have my archive available in lossy formats."
